Cool At last, some British pride

I know this should probably be in Sporting, but in the light the England World Cup sham, the impending failure of Andy Murray, here's a thread to congratulate a British sporting success.

Congratulations to Graham McDowell for ending 40 years of drought by claiming a very well deserved victory in the US Open Golf Championship last night! He remained as cool as a cucumber as the world's golfing elite fell apart on a very tough course.

Well done!

England footballers take note, stop being ponces, realise your potential.

Fantastic opportunity for MCDowell now, exempt from qualifying for the US Open, for a while anyway, good chance of invites to every top tournament in the world, sponsorship that will run into the millions! Lucky guy!

Also congrats to the England rugby team who handed the Aussies their 'arrises.

"Andy Murray, impending doom " :-) So true ! So very very very true !!

Be fun watching the media build him up though, then drop him like a stone when he looses.

Aren't McDowell and Murray both jocks? not gonna support them on principal unless i see some backing for the England world cup team from the bog-trotters, sweaties and sheep-******** (not Mr Impreza as such).

Can't see why it should be in sporting, golf is a pastime, not a sport

McDowell's not a jock

We northern Irish just love England's impending demise
Because - They've been billed as potential winners for months now - even deemed up there with the favourites.
They've been built up and built up constantly - dare I say even made unbeatable, and they're about to be knocked back down again I'd say.

Not the players' fault at all it's that da-go wop manager that's at fault!

Dont hate the country, hate the media.

Better to have stood on the shoulder of giants, rather than to have been sniffing round their ***** Id say.
