Hi,
the kit so far has been tested to 600 BHP and 600 fllb's of torque, I am told the Banana is 700 BHP ? if so I cannot guarantee the kit will survive that sort of power with you at the helm.
That said we will test the kit to that kind of level, once done we can release one to you.

quick re-cap,
Reading the forums, there is now mention of the Subaru hubs failing.
Previously when we were using the PPG kits, the Subaru hub was stronger than the gears so the kit would break first. Now our gears are stronger than the Subaru hub this has become the new ‘weak point’ within the box, bear in mind we are running approx 600 ftlb's.
We are now sorting an uprated syncro hub for testing with our gearkit.

Seems to me like Steven is offering you some independant testing. Which I for one would love to see.
I will be in need of uprated gearbox internals in the near future.
PPG break and they respond by constantly reducing the rating
6-speed is heavy and will require me to spend cash changing other components such as prop, linkage, shaft stubs etc etc.

cannot agree more, PPG's answer to the problem of gear kit failures is to lower the spec on their web site not actually look at why the kits fail and try to sort out a fix, hence we have developed our own.
Already tested to 600/600 the kit is soon to get a very serious test, watch this space.

A PPG setup sounds good and ofcourse the weight advantage is a plus being it a minor one for people that mostly drive on the roads.
The big disadvantage of the PPG kit IMO is the price which is certainly more exepensive than a proper 6 speed with all shafts, hubs, etc. needed to install them on a GC8.
Don't forget the installation price since most people are not able to install gears themselves and ofcourse the bloody VAT that almost adds 1/5 to the price.
It's a shame that there is nothing in between the OEM 5 speed and spending 2200+ quid for either a PPG setup of 6 speed setup.
Wish there was something that was less expensive and rated at lower specs.
The mass is not going to be running 600+ft/lbs of torque and if they are they do have the $$$ to pay for a new transmission as they have spend at least 6000 quid on the engine and turbo alone.
The mass will be modifying their car in between the 325-425Hp 320-400ft/lbs range and always seem to run into this brick wall that consists of a factory 5 speed that will fail eventually, it's almost guaranteed.
Wouldn't it be more cost effective to produce something that fills this gap as it will reach a much bigger audience ?

if you are not intending to go higher than 450ftlbs then the current 4XL250 box would be right for your car, in stock they are £7000.00 + vat.
Standard rally ratio's as follows.........

The new 4XL350 with uprated crown wheel, pinion, side plates & diff will be fully tested by the end of May, price will be £8000.00 + vat, rated to 6-700 ftlb's

both kits have to be built into the later "8" bolt casings.
We can supply a kit built into a later case for £2895.00 exchange.

Hi,
broke the casing on our drag cars dog box last outing.
We were off to Santa pod Sunday 18th for the jap show final with no dog box ready we had to fit one of our stock syncro gearbox's to the car, not knowing the upper power limit it was a bit of a gamble, but it worked.
9.48 standing 1/4 with a terminal speed of 152 MPH, this gave us 2nd place in championship even after missing 3 rounds.
Great test for our gear kit which showed no problems dealing with the 642 BHP on tap and being launched many times, as we pipped the magic 150 mark next year we have to have a parachute.

Hi,
yes it was, stunning box, held up to the punishment nicely.
Lots of testing being done with these box's loads out there in high power applications without issue.
In answer to the last post by trails Stephen doesn't need one now he is running a sequential Modena box, little more expensive than our kit though.
