I don't know about that Peter, the game is moving on with cars like yours, Daz, Clives etc. Still I have my plans but they are small things, ideally I would like to be 650+ for next season.
Easier said then done Peter!
I got made redundant in Feb and as yet haven't been able to find work.
I applied for an IT Managers job the other day where I'm over qualified have more than enough experience and if anything is a step down to what I usually do and that had 228 other applicants apparently.
So rest assured as soon as I find work or win my tribunal case my car will be finished!!

Clive,
I thought you were going to struggle on 25k tbh, mine as you know was built on a 'budget'. I already had the base car and it still cost in the region of 15-20k and that was using a few used parts along the way in the year it took to build, also Paul @ Zens support was paramount to it happening at all at that price.
However I would say your doing it correctly by getting the best parts for the job from the outset. If it costs your 40k then it's still a relative bargain for a 600+ track car. People often underestimate what sort of car that actually is as 600bhp is banded about on here like it's easy. Those that have got there know it isn't and what comes with it.
Anyway enough of being serious, it still won't catch mine

Hi Clive, thanks for that.
As you rightly say there is a heap of issues related to 600+ and none are cheap.
There may be some that are thinking on the lines of " well they don't need to buy things like new seats when u can buy 2nd hand".
I was in the pit entrance at Brands once when a I saw a heavily modified Porsche coming into Clearways from the long circuit. It turned right onto the large grassed infield, got huge air and landed on the front windscreen of another Porsche that was exiting Clearways for the long straight. . Both drivers where in a bad way with one on his way to Sidcup hospital in a helicopter.
I was in the scrutineer's bay when they discovered the reason for the crash.
An old 2nd hand seat had failed before he got to Clearways and the driver experienced the whole incident including the massive air whilst laying down staring at his inner roof. Several of us ran to the scene and when I looked in the car his seat was flat on the floor. His legs were the only thing secured by his 5 point harness. He was laying on the rest of it. Drivers door card looked like a murder scene caused by a huge piece of jagged seat hanging out his right thigh. Both shins snapped by hitting underside of dash. Found out later that he also experienced huge internal damage.
That is why we have new seats.
Competition cars generate much stress when on track and they must be built accordingly. If you build using 2nd hand, cheap bits sooner or later things will fail.
Thanks Pete (Fai).
All jokes aside MH Clive and all involved have done a great job on his car and he will take some catching.
Banter keeps us all on our toes and generates good reading but respect is always there too.

Several guys in the pits at Time Attack were asking me the same questions which led me to think that others are wondering the same. Questions:-
1) Are you and Daz sharing the drive?
2) Are you getting a Pro driver?
3) Are you & Daz going halves on the build (£)
4) Who is doing the initial map and race maps?
5) Who is going to sponsor the car?
6) What do you intend to use the car for?
7) How are RCM involved?
8) Any ideas for P3?
Answers)
1.
No, Don't forget that Daz is building his own monster too and both cars will share a very close completion date and both with similar power.
2.
Am I ****. I'll give some of the nappy rash drivers a run for there money, wait & see
I may be mad but I'm no fool.
If I was unsure about driving this thing I would be honest & upfront, & do the sensible thing by finding a driver.
3
No. I am funding the project. I would never go 50/50 in this game. Too awkward.
4
Simon (Jolly Green Monster) will be in charge of the mapping.
There were (and still are) several of the big boys who want to take control of the mapping. I have nothing against those guys but respect.
Why did we chose Simon? because we have not heard a bad word about him, he provides a service & beyond, fully committed, he is local and he looks cool in his blue shades
5
Will be going through the company.
6
Eventually Time Attack. up until then, lots of track days. When I know the machine no doubt I will end up on the strip. Will be doing most Scooby events whereby you just enter and will compete in anything I am invited to.
7
Although DD is building the car I will always be in the RCM stable.
There have been involved from day one and other involvements will be evident as the project progresses.
We all know each other now, we all get on well, and they are the best.
8
Yep, Two weeks in at The Atlantis in Dubai
There will be no more cars, however P2 may become VERY quick

Cheers Pete
Totally agree mate. Clive (ugly one) will be hard to catch. Quick machine and good driver too.
Really looking foward to next year as there will be some new Scoobz on the scene. P2 & Daz's beast will also be finished along with the possibilities of others including yours Pete?

The good bit for me will be knowing that P2 is a purpose built race machine, unlike my P1. Although my P1 is a nice spec there is a big chunk of me that holds back due to it being my everyday car, not to mention the cost which far exceeds a completed P2.
There will be zero holding back when driving P2 as I realise I wont be dependent on the car (which will please Mr Davies )
The car seems to be progressing very well, just had a long read to catch up. How are you finding the waiting compared to P1, i expect the fact your more involved helps time fly by. It’s been 2 months since a dropped my car off at RCM and the waiting is slowly killing me, you must be mad to put yourself through that again?
F1CJE: how you doing chap?.
Many guys see the P1 and tell me they are going to have an RCM build but most have average mods and dont go through with it, & continue to big power, so hats off to you mate.
Waiting.......... I know what you are going through and the best advise I can give you is try to forget about your car. The more you think about it the worse it will become. What I can assure you of is the end result, and mate that will be a special day for you !!
This time round it's no problem for me because I have P1.
You will get all the crap that I went through fella, about £'s and how much it costs but just ignore them. Not ONE of the comments would have come from a guy that has driven a major RCM build. They are referring to something they no nothing about.
The chances are you will take it on the strip or on track, then you hear the next words of wisdom circulating. A phrase that is very common in the Subaru world is "the car would be quick in the hands of a (proper driver)" which would prove correct in some instances, but not here.
Ignore that one too, as it's the biggest load of boll***s you will ever hear, because very few (if any) would have any experience of driving a (big budget) car built within the RCM stable.
Unless your name is Olly Clark, Matt Clark, Chris Butler, Halldor Jonsson, MartiP1,Skullfudge & possibly a couple more, they have no experience.
Big budget RCM cars can be counted on one hand and are expensive for a reason and the reason becomes very evident when driving them.
Quoted from Daz Davies:
"I've told you, you're getting a metal straight edge wrapped round your knuckles if you dont drive it properly!!"
Ohii Trappy, just shut it Lips, & get the fookin thing built, then I can show you.
(I love him really)

Simon
good one No, not saying that at all Paul. You know & I know if it was built for the strip many things would be different. What I was trying to put over was how difficult it is to launch with it's current set up.
Other than quick shifting at the correct rpm it's all on the start. There are no other guys I know of outside RCM that would jump in my car & know exactly how the OSG hydraulic triple plate clutch, The LC settings, the current rear diff and everything else associated works together? How will they know exactly what to do, they have never sat in the thing?
Slipping the current clutch (as you would know) is virtually impossible. I have tried every way. Tried settings 2 - 8 on launch (side slip & slipping).
I fully appreciate what you are saying and that a general feel of a car on track can be felt quicker by some drivers, but launching mine is very different to that.
It would take anyone some time to understand the car before optimum times are achieved.
Locking the rear end is the answer to this topic.
Loved that hat by the way

You should also consider some 255/35 as they will fit the 9.5" rims too (they are a good fit and 9.5" is well within the widge range listed by Toyo), not stretched and it will massively increase your chances of finding some cheap tyres as there are a number of cars running both size in TA.

Thanks Paul, appreciate that.
If you go for new, have a word with a friendly TA competitor and get them to order you a set. As they're the control tyre the competitors get a little discount. Or at least did a season or 2 ago. Always worth asking.
