Project 2
The earth tag is still masked up in the photos.
The coil mountings were masked but a couple of them lifted. Cleaned with thinners shortly after the pics were taken.
Noted on head bolt locations ta

I've been to RCM today to try the seats for size.
The passenger seat is a perfect fit nice and snug and no movement.

I also had the opportunity to try Clive's seat which is one of those that you sit in and it's moulded around you for the perfect fit. A bit on the wide side for me but I'm told it fits Clive incredibly well.

Listen hear lips, I've even thought of you regarding the finished look & decals on P2.
There will be a cool piece of artwork running across the boot above the lights. It's located there due to the fact that you will looking at that section of P2 more than any other .

daz how come the turbo from garrett and not the billet sc version that has proved its worth on numerous cars ie young clives? and old clive there bold words with the decals lol and am sure the big fella will have somthing to say
The one we have bought from Garrett via RCM also has a billet wheel. It's pretty much identical to the Blouch version.
Here's some better pictures.

I've also managed to get the N/S High Lift cams on tonight, torqued down and re checked the clearances and was happy to have my original measurements confirmed. With the correct sized shims everything is now within tolerance.

Had a great weekend and been at Brands Time Attack / Modified Live 2010 all day. Long day, didn't leave until 6.45 pm.
LOVELY to be at an event and being 20 minutes from home. No hotels, no suitcases and no wife that takes a month to get ready........ bless her.
Long drive huh Daz ?

nice pictures clive, and nice to finally meet you in person rather than text / phone / email.
Was very weird being home in 20minutes, like you say normally it is a long journey.

On a more serious note: :001_rolleyes:
The original theme of this project & thread was to try to build a good track car for 25K.
We knew it was going to be tight, and we were not wrong. The 25K thingy has gone out the fookin window
It's now at a stage where we must seriously start thinking of ways to cut back the costs.
Realistically 80 - 85% of P2 has been purchased & of the 15 -20% of parts remaining there are no big dollar items.
Remaining items include wheels - tyres - R180 - centre diff - fuel set up - fuel cell - fuel pumps (maybe larger lines?) - gauges - new dash layout - clean boxer short hooks - IC - rad - exhaust - h/tank and a few other bits that Daz can provide us with.
A realistic estimate of the final cost of this car will be +15K.
One area that we over spent was the engine. It would prove useless to build a track car from scratch and when finished starting worrying about weak links. I'm lucky and know what it's like having a fast car that has proved reliable (P1) and it's very reassuring knowing in the back of my mind all will be ok when bitchin the thing.
The engine will initially be around 640 - 650 Bhp. If we decide to go for big power in 12 months time the engine is basically ready for it, and a fair bit more power can be achieved at very little cost.
There are two ways to look at this. Have we over spent?, or have we spent money now, that would have been spent next year?
Good job the wife is cool about the RCM payments that come out the bank. She used to love Roy Castle and she still thinks they are donations paid to the Roy Castle Memorial

Clive,
I thought you were going to struggle on 25k tbh, mine as you know was built on a 'budget'. I already had the base car and it still cost in the region of 15-20k and that was using a few used parts along the way in the year it took to build, also Paul @ Zens support was paramount to it happening at all at that price.
However I would say your doing it correctly by getting the best parts for the job from the outset. If it costs your 40k then it's still a relative bargain for a 600+ track car. People often underestimate what sort of car that actually is as 600bhp is banded about on here like it's easy. Those that have got there know it isn't and what comes with it.
Anyway enough of being serious, it still won't catch mine
