kebab digested, not true actually it was a chicken in black bean sauce today,
here is Pats take on it.................
Timing looks about right, it could just be the mismatch of parts used or just one of those cars, to sort it you will have to port the exhaust housing, don't go mad just add a radius to the the waste-gate throat, not the button, take off any sharp edges with a dremmel, don't make it any bigger just smooth it out a bit.
Pat also says its far more likely on a 2.5 than it is on a 2.0 ltr engine, which is true now I think about it as we have had to port at least 50% of the 2.5 standard turbo charger cars when we have them in for mapping.
It does sometimes happen that a certain set of mods don't work together and cause issues like yours, still worth a try with some E 85 and a map tweak though.

Should have had it done before installing the turbo in the first place, would have been quite a lot cheaper....

Maybe a word of warning would be in place for those with a 2.5ltr thinking about these turbos? I mean, it might be a good idea to port the wastegate "just in case" before installing the turbo..maybe even best if it would be done by the dealer.

where did the flywheel bit come from,
Wishful thinking me thinks, flywheels are in stock, £295.00 gets you a Chrome moly 6.3 kg Billet one.
We also do a 5 speed kit that comes with a Chrome Moly billet flywheel, a 240 mm organic disc and an uprated cover with 1350kg clamping at £639.95.
All prices + vat.

Kev, If this a problem for me too (going on a 2.5) when i come to have it mapped, how long will your chaps need to remove, port and refit?

Hi,
its not normally a problem, as I stated certain ingredients can sometimes spoil the recipe.

They are ported to a degree, there is no point over porting them as they work perfectly on 99.99% of applications, just appears you are in the 0.01%.

Its not a big job, when we have to port the VF43's fitted to the 2.5 ltr cars it takes about 3 hours from start to finish, which costs £150.00 including the porting.
Hope that clears things up, still worth a drink of E 85 and a map tweak before you go in with the dremel.

see post 2555, its about a 2.5 to 3 hour turnaround, but lets worry about that when we get to mapping the car, dont loose sleep yours will most likely be fine.

Not losing sleep over it, but also not going to book in for mapping at 4pm on a friday just in case, if that makes sense!
Hopefully the car and engine are back as one and heading for the mot centre today ..... hopefully!

Does the Impreza's early MY93-96 OEM TD05H 16g's actuator/rod/bracket assembly fit okay on an Impreza-pattern TD05H 20g turbo. I mean the type of 20g with the more "rounded"-type comp. snail (not the Andy.F-style snail with the flat machined area on the front)?
Also, can said OEM 16g actuator's housing be split apart and a higher psi-rated Forge T2 spring substituted for the OEM spring? (I've got the spring).
If so, do you have any suitable w/g actuator/rod/bracket assemblies available to buy (but without being £££-raped! LOL)?

Had my SC42 Billet fitted today at Sheffield Subaru Service ready for mapping on the 16th at the clinic,no issues and all went well.A bit of a tw@t to fit with the turbo blanket in place but still we got there in the end,the difference in size compared to the 18g i took off is very noticeable,its a monster.Even at the safe 1 bar the car is set at i can feel the difference,the SC42 already spools quicker than the ported 18g and i havn`t been above 0.5bar,cant wait till this is mapped to its full potential it should be wild.

Hi,
if the hole spacings are the same on the TD05 actuators bracket as they are on your 20G comp cover then it will fit and work providing the hole sizes on the waste gate arm and the actuator are the same size too.

As far as I am aware they don't split to allow you to uprate the spring.
We don't stock up rated waste gate actuators as we never need them.
Not much help today are we, sorry.

Yeah just need a clutch to handle this beast now mick,think im gonna go and see kev about one of the xtreme clutches he has.

API will prob be able to help me when I go there to get a clutch fitted, etc. If not, then I'l just have to shell out big ones

Put that 18g away safe big boy, should see a big diff over my vf 23 lol.
16th down at http://sheffieldsubaruservice for my 18g and harvey uppipe fitting.
Then off to the clinic in the afternoon with the brotherhood to be mapped by jgm
And them im Done!!!!!

@Dave..Yes the turbo blanket is an excellent investment,took the car out for a drive round and as soon as i came back i placed my hand on the turbo blanket and could keep it there no probs.
lol I can concur on the 'done' thing, too. As Simon only knows too well from yesterday

I`ll be buying an SC46 Twin scroll of ya soon, and I`m just trying to work out the logistics of getting it fitted etc. Are these currently in stock? Do you still do the option of no exchange unit for an extra £150? Or if you need the old turbo first how long is the turnaround?
