Thanks Immy,
What you going for, SC46 then?
I know a couple of guys that are running 420ish through the top mounts so figured the SC42 was fine as is but wasn`t sure when it becomes a bit of an issue,
Want to keep the Spec-C as original looking as possible so front mount at a last resort if the TMIC can`t take the 450bhp
Or stick with the SC42 and make do with just 420hp ish

^ but not as nice as the 42 billet will spool on yours glen.
You'v deffo made the right choice, forget about pub talk/how fast it looks in numbers on a dyno pal,its all about how it pulls out of corners on the ROAD.
And we will see soon how well another 2.1/GT30 billet spools/performs.
Cheers kev/scoobyclinic.

Kev, i know you have an epic thread going, full of graphs and results but yet people keep asking about the turbo or results you dont yet have, so apologies if this pisses the hell out of you mate,
But before you mentioned an SC46 with Bigger wheel, did you ever do anymore on this or try one??

Hi,
as far as I am aware I have never mentioned a bigger 46 Billet wheel only a bigger exhaust housing, these are now in stock.
cheers

as stated many times before the problem with the twin scroll billets is we need the old exhaust housings back so we can machine them and go again, this is a bit messy as most people want to keep their old turbo complete.
I had six housings originally which I could rotate and therefore keep a few on the shelf, problem is they have now all gone so until I get my hands on some I am stuck.
However, there maybe light at the end of the tunnel, we are about to test an SC36 Billet twin scroll, if this works the housing used is a custom cast one we can purchase in bulk as a blank, the good thing is its machinable up to an SC46 exhaust wheel so that may be the answer.
Meanwhile send me your old exhaust housing and we can make an SC42 twin scroll for you straight away.
Cheers

Have you had a chance to test any of them or sell any yet, interested to know what extra power it made and what difference was to spool over standard sc46...

- Proven turbo with plenty of graphs
- Future proof for when I decide ~420 is not enough!
- Probably marginal later spool than an SC42, so I can deal with ~200 rpm.
- Bigger turbo than SC42, so in theory should be able to run less boost than SC42 to achieve same BHP = lower intake temps (think TMIC).
However, I'm by no means a turbo expert so please don't treat me as one :-)
By the way, I'm loving the SC46 on my 08 STI hatch, it's still on a running in map and it puts a grin on my face @ just 1.0bar!

Well ive decided on the SC42 as in theory it should give me the same performance as the SC46 but with better spool, well thats what im hoping for anyway. The car will be mapped at the same time as my mates car who has the SC46 fitted, both cars are 2.0ltr with similar mods and capable of running high boost so it will be interesting to see how they match up against each other on the day.

Hi,
just a quick update before confusion sets in.
Please do not mix up the single scroll units with the twin scroll ones, they are not the same animal.
When I update the thread with results on billet 46 turbo's or Billet 42 ones I am always referring to the single scroll units, if we happen to do the odd twin scroll I will state "twin scroll" after the turbo's part number.
Have to mention also that there are a few spurious figures appearing on top mounts, its my experience that 380 BHP is pushing it on the STI top mount, although I did run 450BHP for 3 years on an up rated hyperflow TMIC but it was only used for short sprints and shortish blasts, as Harvey states earlier on this thread it wouldn't last on a spirited cross country drive or a circuit race for sure.
cheers

If past results on my car are anything to go by then it should easily see over 400,last turbo was a harvey smith ported 18g which made 385bhp,previous to that was a vf28 which made 363bhp both on vpower.I`ve fitted a jdm sti 8 twinscroll bottom end which seem to be happy at well over 450bhp so good things should come from the 42 when JGM is let loose on her next month, fingers crossed.

I've had one customer run a MY05 spec c with 450 and 500bhp with Nos for the past few years on the standard JDM engine with top mount and it's never missed a beat. the car ran in the MLR sprint for two years in a row and he tracked it.
