Default sc54 v gt30

Hi Kev. Whats the difference between your billet 54 and your gt30, on a built 2.1 with sti 9 heads? Other than 1 being rotated and the 10 hp difference in rating? cheers

Hi,

the SC54 uses turbine and compressor wheels that sit somewhere between a GT 30 and a GT35 Billet.

On 20% meth mix we have seen up to 580 BHP on the SC54 Billet and 600 BHP on the GT 30 Billet.

A rotated turbo will always make more power due to them being a more free flowing unit with an external wastegate.

If you are after 500 + BHP I would stick a GT30 Billet on there.

cheers
Kev

It's only just arrived. We've got to remove it's 690bhp 2.1 and strip the heads off it first

Yes. I have mapped a 2.1 stroker fitted with one recently and that made 382bhp and 370 lbft on VPower @ just 1.4 bar boost. Splash of meth and it climbed over 400bhp at the same boost.
3 bar map sensor, 750cc injectors and Deatschwerks pump being fitted soon and then we'll up the boost and see what she really does.

Wanted more of something, wasn't sure what, didn't really fancy a bigger laggier turbo, more torque sounded nice

You going to use the same turbo/setup then? Be a good comparison between a 2.1 and 2.3 if you are

Yes, same setup (unless Martyn finds something to persuade me otherwise). Will be interesting to see what it achieves compared to Clive's monster, though mine will be heavier, probably lower boost, and with a much more sluggish driver
