By the way the engine behaves on the graph and the almost identical power and torque figures id say say def a 2.5 powered car,bet its fabulous on the road too.

Nothing fancy, Cosworth rods and pistons, stock heads and cams and 16% meth on a stock ecu with Racerom.

From our experience on track the 2.5 was fine at 450 BHP all season in 2007 time attack, for Silverstone we cranked one up to 475 BHP 3 laps in and two split liners.

There are two schools of thought to why this happens, some say its the thin liners letting go, some say that the head gaskets fail due to the lack of support for the upper cylinders which allows coolant into the cylinder, it tries to compress it and splits the liner, whichever comes first, chicken or egg upshot is a split liner.

However, we all know a fast road car never gets the pain a track car suffers so to be fair 500 on a road car may well be fine on the 2.5, we don't like to take the risk though and cap them at 460 BHP, that's a whole lot of power for a road car, it usually comes with 460 + ftlb's of torque thrown in for good measure.

500 BHP has been seen from an SC46 Billet with 20% meth or E85 fuel.

Hope the above answers more questions than it raises.

cheers

I doubt if anyone could tell the difference between a 460 bhp car and a 500 bhp car on the road anyway, unless they were an "experienced track driver"..

As the owner of an SC46 based 2.5 conversion, I would echo what Kev has said; don't get too caught up chasing figures. The turbo will make a solid 460/460. Most people, including me get even higher torque figures. But the headline power and torque is not even the half of it; it's the way the SC46 delivers the omph with the 2.5 that impresses most. It has a lovely low boost threshold and virtually no lag.

As a road car there is very little that will touch it, as higher output turbos will take longer to gird their loins and require more revs to work, by which time you'll be off. As for lesser cars....forget it: it simply drives away from them.

Had a mate with a 996 turbo in the car the other day, his conclusion: "it's as quick as mine...... you barsteward. Can I have a go?" Since he has yet to give me a shot in his car, I politely declined

Glenn got his 500bhp on LP 930cc and upped boost! Cool! ^^^

What was the target boost? And what % meth - 20%?

On a relatively 'small' turbo/2.0, that's simply stunning in anyone's book! Just goes to show how efficient the b.b. and billet combo works.
