Hi,

we never got the results we expected from the 33 billet, they were good but not good enough to warrant the price difference.

So in true scoobyclinic style we took them off sale and returned them to be fitted with a new design Billet wheel, testing to be done soon.

They are more expensive as they cost more to build but we are addressing this issue to.

We never stand still, the range is constantly being tweaked and added to, they are evolving nicely.

cheers

Hi,
Nice one thanks.

I've got the crap intake from Lateral, and the standard HDI FMIC intake with a K&N filter on the end so I imagine that will do (currently on a MD321T)

Thanks

This was the first SC54 Billet produced since then the comp wheel and housings have been tweaked so maybe time for a back to back test .

For a direct fit turbo it has surpassed many non billet rotated set ups with all the extra pipe work and external wastegate expense.

Very interested in how the SC54 would do on a 2.1 and even more interested in how this would compare to the billet GT30R - and another well known 500+ turbo
Built 2.1 with sorted AVCS heads so hoping spool won't be too bad.

Hey Kev,

Thanks for the help, sent my turbo out today for the SC46 conversion

I had a question regarding some graphs you posted. I haven't seen a graph for the SC46 twin scroll on normal Vpower, only E85. But there is a graph of the SC46 (single scroll) on a 2.5 that you posted. What I noticed is the power is essentially the same between the single scroll SC46 on Vpower vs the twin scroll SC46 on E85, with the E85 naturally holding more power to redline.

Here are the two I'm referring to.
SC46 twin on E85
https://www.scoobynet.com/showpost.p...&postcount=318
SC46 single on vpower
https://www.scoobynet.com/showpost.p...&postcount=704

Was the twin scroll SC46 just on a less aggressive tune? Any details between the two that could help give me a better understanding. Also the next graph is a twin scroll SC46 but with FMIC, was wondering if the FMIC was the main difference with the extra power.
https://www.scoobynet.com/showpost.p...&postcount=776

Just curious to see the different factors involved, was really curious as to why the power was mostly the same between a Vpower tune and E85 with those two.

Thanks for the help!

John

I'm also curious, Kev, if the SC46 twin scroll is a genuine twin scroll, with different impellers as per VF36/37, or actually a twin entry like the LM 4xx series turbos?

Hi,

our new scoobyclinic drag car will be running a 2.1 engine with standard avics heads and a Billet GT30, should be up and running next month so will post up the results.

Ah - this will be very interesting to me!! I will keep an eye out for the results.

What actual heads are you using? Single AVCS I'd imagine. JDM / Spec C or normal UK STI? Small or big port?

Do you think that oe heads are going to be enough to get the best of the billet GT30?

I plan to have my heads built with upraded springs, retainers etc so at least if it needs cams I can fit later without removing the heads wasting a set of gaskets etc.

Hi John,

The SC46 Billet single scroll was on a car with a FMIC and a fully forged engine, whereas the Twinscroll was on a standard JDM STI 2.0 ltr engine with a TMIC.

We were only looking for around 450 BHP and there was no point pushing it further on a TMIC, I am sure there was more to come with a little more boost, we are re mapping the car again on V power next week so will be a better comparison.

The SC46 Billet twin scroll is slightly smaller than the SC46 Billet single scroll, in fact its more like our old SC 42 but it shares the SC46 Billet comp wheel, so it was named as such.

That brings me nicely on to a new member of the Billet family, the re introduction of the all new SC42 Billet ball bearing cored turbocharger.

We have had many requests for a smaller BB cored turbo than the SC46 Billet, more details when they become available next month.

cheers

Hi,

all our twin scrolls use true twin scroll housings with twin volutes, we did consider twin entry but tests appeared to show we would lose some of the pulse energy/spool benifits so we abandoned the idea.

Hope that answers your question.

Cheers

Kev. All these recent questions remind me that I wanted to ask you a couple about my sc46 twinscroll.
When the build is finished, (2.5 forged) and the simtek is fitted, what would you suggest I run as my 2 switchable maps?. High boost/low boost, or maybe v-power/meth mix, or something else altogether to get the best out of the turbo. Secondly, the ALS is activated but is it ok to use or is it just going back down the "gizzmo ***** your valves" route, and would this invalidate any warrenty on the turbo?
Numpty questions I know, but its alright Im a numpty

The volute is the internal design of the housing isn't it? I thought a genuine twinscroll had two distinct impellers, one for each exhaust inlet? Not trying to be pedantic, but genuinely trying to understand the difference between twin scroll and twin entry

That and being a 2.5 helped with the low end. I'm still impressed to see the 2.0 with twin scroll make more tq at 3k even with E85.

Plus being a standard STi TMIC didn't help. I wonder how my Process West TMIC will fare, we will find out soon . Good to hear that the 465bhp was with a conservative tune and not being pushed to the ragged edge.

Interesting. The twin SC46 is a 49lb wheel right?

I'm really looking forward to getting my bugeye finished. Few more things to order and I'll be looking at 2,800lbs (1270kg) and 460bhp+

John,
Don't underestimate the effect that running pure E85 can have.... especially on torque figures. It will be interesting for sure what the SC46 TS Billet produces on VPower with the TMIC.

This is the comparison I'm interested in for sure!

Kev - Get a wriggle on!!!

Hi,

the twin scroll and the single scroll turbos are exactly the same inside its only the exhaust housing that differs, on a true twin scroll there are two volutes that go all the way round the exhaust housing like two snails, it also has two waste-gate exits that are controlled by a single figure 8 shaped waste-gate button, whereas the twin entry is two entry ports that join into one snail with just the one waste-gate exit.

Hope that explains a little.

cheers

Hi,

thanks for answering the questions, saved me a job.

Looking forward to getting the beast on track and setting it up suspension wise, should be stunning.

See you Saturday.
