Diesel Scoobys...........
7500 miles on it now and in the last month it just feels like a new engine has been put it or i have found another gear """
really starting to loosen up now and with my past experience if diesels peugeot/rover/skoda they get better at 20k +++
fuel economy still down on what i was expecting with 42.9 since new and 40-42 per tank lately but im not doing many long distance jobs just rapid 10 mile blasts to work via the twisties
Any feedback on the new subaru sports mufler exhaustfor them at £415 which has apeared in the options ?
as i would like a bit more noise now and then "
My green wagon has only done now 600 miles since june as always seem to go for the WRXd for the pleaseure and refinement
roll on a bit more saving cash for the yellow spec -c to join the fleet

diesel if your not sure BUY ONE
you wont regret it at all

I find it annoying that several mags go on about how it's too late and bringing too little to the party.......
They are wrong.
I've been running my Diesel Forester (2.0D XC) since March 09 and have now got 24k on the clock. Average MPG since new is 45.9 (haven't reset second trip meter since new). Best MPG recorded is 54 for one tank full - that was on a long run from Stoke to Paisley and back, using the cruise control for much of it.
PS, why does the MPG gauge work in 0.3 mile increments???

Hi too
that sounds good with the sports muffler
Mmm
think the first service book says it needs one fitted
last night on my normal test route back from tts to my home at the early hours did it in 51 minutes against the classics 49 minutes so little difference in speed and got 45.9 despite silly speeds
Gets better every day but the sports muffler sounds good and would be great to have the burble back

I love the heated seats and cruise control

Hi, mines just had its first service at the weekend, and yes my air filter was well dirty, thinking of putting in a KN replacement element in,
Doing motorway work im getting about 49 / 50 mpg,
Am told if you remove the white plastic bottle from the underside of the air box, this will help with throttle response, has any one tried this?

Can anyone else compare with these figures?
I actually have a thread going on a VAG site asking what mpg do you get at motorway speeds on long runs.
Id be interested to know if the rest of you get similar to this at a steady 70-80mph.
Might be changing jobs, and it would involve about 2.5 hours a day sitting on the motorway if driving at 120km/h (75mph) currently have 03 jdm sti, and I don't think thats gona suit to well!
Quote from the Extract:
That could reduce the Subaru’s road tax burden and attract fleet drivers when the car arrives next year.
That was published in Feb 2008....... so 2.5 years later and still no more evidence of this STI-d.
And I want one!!
But it needs to have at least 200bhp and 400 ft-lb's!
A quick remap to a vag or bmw 2.0 diesel was producing that back in 03.

200bhp is doable now. A simple remap will get you to 184 (available now). The rumour I heard was the Dual mass fly was the weak bit.
TBH, if they release an STId, then it needs to be able to compete with the 335D / 5 series d. They run 289 bhp and 440 lbs/ft albeit from a 3 litre lump.

It would need to fend of the likes of a golf gt tdi or new gtd.
And 120d or 320d's.
I had a 120d that was mapped for 2 years and sold with 70,000miles and it was making 218bhp and 400ft-lbs on the dyno and never gave a minutes trouble.
That was only a map, nothing else.
So the stid should be able to easily surpass that with the right exhaust, filter turbo and intercooler.
Don't imagine a remapped 120d would give you trouble, that blocks been around for some time. Ours hasn't, and as above the rumour was the DMF is the weak link.
Personally, with the trouble the STi's have had, mines staying stock until the warranty runs out in 2012.

Still, the block is usually the last to give trouble with most remaps.
Nearly always turbo, clutch or gearbox that will be first to go. Which it didnt, thankfully!
I know the tuner, so I was getting the map tweaked an tweaked, a little beyond what he considered totally safe.

for all you diesel owners out there there are a couple of recalls for the diesel models, one is to do with a wiring loom rubbing through and the other is an ecu update.
all done foc via the dealer

Is the STi-d ever going to see light?
