Might be tempted to chop the Altea (TDi with the 140ps PD 16v engine) for a Forester D or an Outback diesel:

The Altea is averaging 39.8mpg which to be frank is ****-poor over its 10,000 miles of mainly motorway work.

Its making the Subaru diesel an attractive alternative (if only there were more Subaru dealers in Spain ). Might need to have an auto though, which might rule it out though

Anyone got a link to where you can read about this?

I've read the Autocar article about a 180bhp wrx diesel, but not seen anything about this 230bhp one, it sounds good!

If thats true the standard petrol sti's will become redundant!
I can only imagine seeing petrol's that had been highly modified keeping up with that.

I had a diesel one a few months back as a test vehicle, absoloutly amazing the torque was impresive, give a lot of std classics a run

Well my WRXd is getting better every week as loosening up now with 5500 miles done

fuel economy still only 500 to the tank every time whatever speed i seem to drive at or long journeys trip says 42.9 mpg since new

I also have a certain part of my long private driveway and hit 95 which is about the same as my classic now

4k till I have to fund subaru too.

Love the car though bit for the last couple of weeks it does seem to be struggling to mantain 45+ mpg. Needs stiffer suspension though, oh and the remap.

Friday saw 46.7 mpg, untill a Prius and I decided to pass a rather dangerously driven Audi A6 (it brake tested the Prius mid corner on a country road)

Where did you get your wrx d from? My local dealers only do the basic trim level, and let's face it, normal impreza hatches are not exactly lookers. (I have an 08 sti hatch for the record) I am after wrx s looks and handling with diesel economy, as I comute in my 07 wrx, I would love to get more than 270 miles fro
a tank!

Cool

Stan palmers at Carlisle do a special WRXd like martin and mine

they have a great looking demo in red with black GT1 wheels carbon rear wing and front splitter and exhaust s etc for 23 k ex demo great looking car I decided to go for the blue with gold GT1 wheels and tints

gave mike a call for info

great company to deal with

if your not sure have a drive in their demo I bought one over a 330s

tell him lordharding sent you ""

500 to the tank is great as my my MY00 classic gets 240-250 per tank and identical performance

Well I spoke to a guy in sales at Stanpalmers today and he had no idea of a remap and came out with the usual " that would invalidate your warranty " etc . Are you sure your car has been remapped by the dealer.

7500 miles on it now and in the last month it just feels like a new engine has been put it or i have found another gear """

really starting to loosen up now and with my past experience if diesels peugeot/rover/skoda they get better at 20k +++

fuel economy still down on what i was expecting with 42.9 since new and 40-42 per tank lately but im not doing many long distance jobs just rapid 10 mile blasts to work via the twisties

Any feedback on the new subaru sports mufler exhaustfor them at £415 which has apeared in the options ?

as i would like a bit more noise now and then "

My green wagon has only done now 600 miles since june as always seem to go for the WRXd for the pleaseure and refinement

roll on a bit more saving cash for the yellow spec -c to join the fleet

diesel if your not sure BUY ONE

you wont regret it at all
