Know the feeling!

If I had the dosh it would probably be for a 330S or something like that, and being that I wont sell the Wagon, I dont see the other half taking the idea of 3 Scoobs very well!

Not seen this one TBH. However, I'd have a chat with Andrew at DTUK, he's always given me good advice on the diesels I've driven.

It sounds like a good upgrade, even though it is a piggyback ECU by the looks of it.

Will check out the above.

It looks good, slightly less expensive than P-tronic, but also a wee bit less power.

Interesting............

hmmm, ok i don't really understand then what it does. i just had a look on the website.
i used to have one of these (different brand) on a previous diesel, and there was a bit of an improvement in all areas, but not world-shakingly impressive!

later when i had a BMW 330D i had it remapped, now that made a difference!!

but evereybody to their own. maybe the boxes these days are better than a few years ago.

I've got 15,000 miles on the Outback and averaging around 47mpg, get over 50mpg on a steady commute. I could do with more power, do Stan Palmer do aftermarket upgrades and supply warranty ?

I'm thinking a Subaru dealer may be a better choice than EcuTek or similar.

Cheers

I'm liking the figures on the ecutek graph, wonder if Stan Palmers uses the same.

Already know how I want the car, now just need to think how to get it there.

Think GT style car, which I think the diesel would be prefect for, rather than the out and out racers the STi is more suited for.

I was asking all these questions a few months ago about remapping an squeezing out a bit more power. IMO the impreza felt slow compared to gold, a3, 320d etc. But its really great value, good warranty an good basic spec which attracted me.

Anyway I didnt go for it, just bought an MY05 sti with only 19500 miles
So will keep it for about a year, then maybe trade it in against an impreza wrx or sti diesel if these rumours materialise!

About a 1-2 years ago, someone I know who was at a Subaru proving track in Japan, stumbled upon a Legacy (if I'm not mistaken) with a TWIN-TURBO Diesel engine with a CVT type gearbox!

It was literally ripping bits of tarmac off on the launches, and other tests they were doing. The Japanese man with him, informed him of the above (as he had been suspecting)
He also said (off the record) that they were having serious problems with the gearboxes/clutches of both types (manual and automated manual or whatever), and the torques would just kill them.
As such at the time they were already thinking of postponing the project...........and it looks like they did.

CVT box is going to be used in 2010 Legacy/Outback.

Interesting to see if they go ahead with the TT stage though .. !

Ye, if they launched a Twin turbo it would put them up at the forefront of diesel technology alongside bmw.
A 3.0 twin turbo diesel legacy could become stiff competition for a 535d if its priced keenly enough.
