time attack build
no frustratingly not car has been gone for over a month now and progress has been made but not anywhere near the speed i had planned, the month i said the bodywork has already elapsed and the finishline is no where close.
engine has arrived at the clinic and all the other bits are there too, just waiting on breaks and fire extinguisher and thats it. once car gets back to clinic just a cae of putting it all bk together and hope to get it completed and some testing done before weather goes crap

You're doing the right thing looking to get it spot on first time but the wrong thing then giving people the hurry up , you're going to loose the end result you are obviously looking for if you rush it

I've done a few kits from scratch now and I'm quite happy with the progress this is making .
i wasn't being funny there mate im just saying to everyone exactly that it will come when it comes there is no point rushing it your quite right, my deadline was unrealistic anyway, i want to get it right 1st time but you take however long it takes to get it right, im totally cool with that.
i understand this is a bespoke job and i have told you how brill i thought it was and the hours you must have put into this is increadable, and i am truley gratefull that you have undertaken this project for me. as i said i hope we can get it sorted mate

very frustrating for me too mate , as you said you want to get this right first time . I've put hundreds of hours into this trying to get it as you want it . fortunately you're taking a lot of advice regarding the aerodynamics which will now change the shape of the rear kit too which is obviously going to take a lot longer than we originally intended .

me too
craftmanship is pretty serious and turning out to be tougher than anyone anticipated i think. im not posting pics until both sides are done then i will post two teaser pics then once the car is mag featured (as soon as completed) i will release all the pics to show the level of work that has gone into this by abw. nothing is off the shelf and anything that is has to be heavily modified to make it aerodynamic hence the longer time scale and the few probs over the last few days.
its all in the brew

i dont know mate daren is the only one who can answer that for you, my guess is roughly 3 weeks and it will be ready for paint, could be wrong sure darren will post it up
ooooh handbags at twenty paces
the amount of tim ive spent on track with phil and in the ice driver this year i should hope so to. ill have a good six months to learn the new car and the serious amounts of power, now i know all the major tracks and lines. only knockhill and snetterton left to do and ill get them done this year.as you well know life is a lot easier when you have a team giving you technical and track support, been doing a lot of track driving in the past six months probably more than in the past 24 months combined, as long as we can get the car setup well i shouldnt have too many drama's
you entering again next year, or you taking a break?

Seat time and getting used to driving the car will stand you in good stead for next year. Set up is also critical and the ability to get that right quickly. Zen Performance have been absolutely outstanding at doing that with me.
Lots of other very important factors involved too but don't under estimate the step from being quick at a track day and being quick enough in TA. I made that mistake last year and lots of others have this year thinking that they would come in and fall foul of the 5% rule . I am sure SC will help you get the best out of the package and you on the events.
The plan and current preparations are to compete again - so I look forward to comparing the two
Yours is looking good so far

Looks like you have Club sewn up this year. I think we will get 3rd at best if we do ok at Snett. Still gona try and get one of those SIDC tropies off you though

Sorry for jacking the thread, finished now.

Definitely not sewn up - so many bad things could happen.
Next year .. cant see how I could compete in my daily driver with the fire breathers in CP without completely turning it into a track only car and I would miss driving it then tbh.

nothing wrong with a bit of battle talk now is there duncan
glad your running again.
i just want to use my first year as a competetive as possible and hopefully press on in my second year as your right this isnt a track day its flat out. ill use scoobysprint in between as shakedown(and a bit more exposure for the clinic), although the car is not a sprint car and therfore will not be competetive it at least gives me a chance to get the balance of the car correct for cornering.
phils tuition has been invaluable and im sure there will be plenty more before next year starts. he maybe around scooby clinic a bit more next year, but thats all im saying
cant wait. im getting itchy trigger foot

Not automatically moved up as far as I am aware. Last year they took the top few into club pro as the new class was formed but it is unclear what will happen this year.
Only been within the 5% once this year - at Silverstone. Ruling is 3 times in a season and then bumped up.
Utaka - which Phil ?

I do think though that they are planning on doing the same as last year and move the first few Club guys up to Club Pro next year if they run again. You should be fine though with all that Torque Duncan, I'm going to need a new engine build to get the same.
your obviosly just a good driver making good time through the twisties and a bit slowere on straights i take it, what power do you run on a stock engine?
yeah duncan should be able to turn the boost right up

Duncan's only done it the once this year so can go flat out at Snett with no worries of suddenly getting all his results moved up to Club Pro for the year end standings, and me then being fastest Subaru in club as a result lol, I would have loved that. A Stock internal engine car as fastest!

Power at each round has been less than most people think too. It isnt about the power.
We think its around 475/420 on Shell with 1% Fuchs booster. Not really sure on just race fuel as we gave up using it, somewhere around 525/450 I guess, We use a mix when we need a bit more get up and go and that runs around 500/440. It is all guess work though re the power as it has only been on the dyno once and that was a mare to get the same charge temp as on the road so never did it again (due to running a TMIC). We get more or less the same temp as outside air temp on the road, but dyno was just too messy and fluctuating to do safe runs with all the advance we are running (40+ degrees). So just road map it and get it drivable rather than chase down figures.
Your right of course... I am a good driver lol. Thats what I tell myself anyway
Racing bikes has made cars a lot easier though.
Your car seems to be a nice build. I'm looking forward to seeing it rolled out.

I haven't run the 600 lb/ft torque figure at all this year - most has been about 550 at Silverstone and Brands where I ran at 2 bar on the new engine but only revved to 6300 max in both rounds to take it easier on the new engine.

Ben Hur wheel spikes!!!
fair play im sure bikes are twice as sketchy, never riden one to be honest, my mate does a lot of motorcross racing ive been pilion on his race tuned 125 and 0-60 is unbelievable, felt quicker tha an car ive been in or driven but it is outside and i had no protective gear on, bit silly really but i had to feel the power
thats some good figures from a stock engine is nothing uprated bar turbo ecu, where is that power coming from, do you expire a lot of engine running that horse on standard internals??

Been running the engine for 15k miles (replaced the last to be safe in Jan due to high miles). All of TA, 10 track days and running to work and back each day.
It breaths some oil but need to get a breather kit to sort that. We haven't had any issues with the engine at all really, oil change each round etc as you would do.
Power coming from the TMIC being so efficient and being able to map so much advance in with no det. Richard Bulmer (Tracktive) does the mapping for us. He is continually surprised at what he can get from the top mount (even more than he gets from fronts). We have got to the point where we are running so much advance on the ignition at 1.7bar that it loses power (but still no det). Need a sponsor to fund engine work to see just what we can get out of the setup, and run club pro.
I hope I have remembered all that correctly, I am SO not technical.

wont be long

no tactics. run her 5 bar of boost fighter jet fuel and slap some shields on the wheels to avoid those pesky wheel spikes
