time attack build
If I had to build the Zen car again, it would cost around £75 from scratch, including covering the internal cost of our own time, and taking into account the deals we would always try and negotiate. But the reality is that the car was built in our "free" time, and with the help of many eager helpers that gave their time freely for the love of it, and as such to me the car is priceless.
If someone came to us to build one like it, it would cost more considerable more. So yes, at £45k it's a bargain, but only the people that have really contributed their hearts and souls (even if just for a little while) realise quite what a bargain it is.
All told, I suppose the car has taken some 2-3000 hours of various peoples time.

sorry 45k i had read the insured value, which says 75k well thats even more screwed up then how will another project be funded, and hence i said i dont believe about the gobstopper. steven has had their hatch of them says a couple of posts above, so are they building another car aswell ?

why sell it then, i just hate seeing such awsome bits of automotive engineering just dissappearing. if there had been another project in the pipeline i could understand the sale. i just think its a real shame as it had begun to finally compete with gobstopper. ah well best of luck to new owner. they have a true one off
just gotta wait until i go to the clinic after new year bodywork will be finished over christmas so hopefully can get the thread back on script. should be engine in mid jan ready to fire up and get it out on track. got the new toy keep me entertained over crimbo

The Zen car won't dissappear. You don't buy a bit of kit like that to sit there and look pretty. Even though it could, it's a stunning looking scoob. I'm sure we'll see it around.

Going by Pavlo's post, he never confirmed or denied there wasn't something in development. We'll all just have to wait and see for next year. Here's hoping.

hope you all had a good one. i have eaten my bodyweight in meat and feel pretty wrong today
i will doing some private test sessions with the clinic, they take all the cars to get all their competitors cars ready for the season and get all the setup completed, then phil will be doing bedford with me for a few days to get me confident in the car and then maybe 1 or two track days before t.a and then obviously the track day before each event. sounds hectic. this car will be a big step up for me over 150bhp more and a LOT less weight than my previous evo that i used to take on track or the ice driver which i used through the summer, i could have done with more time to get aqainted with the car but thats life, will just have to fit the driver hours into a lesser amount of time, as im not using t.a as my learning ground i want to start the season in tune with the car. so i dont get caught out
but seeing as the sidc day is at brands ya never know coz i do love brands, is it gp or indy?

why is that? phil will arrange everyting once a completion date is set for the car. the whole point of doing bedford is to allow a large margin of error due to its run offs, im not kidding myself i know ill spin her a few times to start with, all part of the learning curve. when time attack starts i plan to be prepared
hmmm its tempting i could do the track day in my evo if the scoob s not ready as i said above i want some practice in a wide open track for first few runs so any mistakes arent so costly. keep in touch mate and ill let you know closer to the time. how is your motor going now?
as i said phil will be sorting it out. him and eddie do a lot of co-operate work with the circuit so they are on good terms and he is going to sort a few days there as soon as we have a completion date on the car.
It don't matter who Phil "knows"..... your car needs to pass the very stringent noise regs at Bedford (perhaps the most strict in the UK?!). That is what is being suggested here.
Good luck!
I known standard Scoobs to be shown the door at that place.

as above Mat, mine is a deffo fail at bedford
i think its only 95db limit
and they recon the council monitor the results live
as for hows my car, we will see at brands

can only go on what i have been told, airfield track day it is then 89 is low, it wont pass that. its irrelevant until the car is ready to go anyhow. so i will worry about it then, im sure there are plenty of cicuits with spacious run offs for me to get used to the car if bedfords a no go .

If you need run-offs than you need to get some tuition first!!!
Something like Snetterton is good to start out with. Fairly easy track layout and you can gain some car/track confidence. This track is mostly 105db days. Just make sure your oil system is up to it though, as it could all end in tears.
I would highly recommend you get some tuition...... it is worth 100's of bhp with the right person. A lot of suspension/handling set-up can be done without even nailing it on a track, if you have the right people sorting it. So don't worry about needing to get on track to get you on your way with that area.

i dont need to learn how to drive guys i have more than enough track experience and have been taught by phil glewe at every t.a track for next season and more, except cadwell, over the course of the past year,i would be stupid to take a 40k time attack car to the limit with no experience. i just need somewhere safe to get used to a 550bhp plus race car so i can be competetive not just a runner.
