Hi all,

Thinking of going full decat on my hatch sti, what gains do you think I'll achieve? Currently running standard internals, forge dump valve, cobra 3" stainless cat back non resonated, mishimoto CAI, prodrive second decat pipe.
Running 346.1bhp when out on the rollers at thwaites.

What gains do you think I'll achieve from above after fit and remap?

Do you think it'll alter noise also?

Thanks for any ones opinion/advice ;-)

Hi,

It's just an open source remap done by Mark at Thwaites. I thought about removing the final cat on the downpipe, then do the remap again. But wanted to know what benefits/noise etc would come with the £550 upgrade.

Cheers in advance

Yeah that's my concern! Has anyone got a sound clip of the hatch fully decatted. To get an idea of the difference between one and two cars been removed?

Cheers all

Default P0638 error code .. HELP!

Got a check engine light Wednesday morning, car would absolutely NOT pull away, 9 MPH max!

Cleared code.
Engine / throttle worked fine.

Happened again tonight. No torque to pull away. Also revs jumped up from idle @ 800 ish to about 1500.

Normal commute journeys each time, in some stop start traffic, occurred both times when in a line stationary.

P0638 code - throttle actuator range.

1. What could be the cause ( pedal position sensor, throttle positioner, throttle motor??? )

2. How can I check these items, or do I need to visit local dealer for diagnostics?

3. Are these parts available and at what cost!!

Thanks muchly,

I do have the ECUTek ProECU ( deltadash ?? ) kit so could read values, log ... any use here?

Cheers Rob.

Can I fix it, or how much for new one!
Dealer part I expect?

Not a wire loom or sensor problem then?

My '08 WRX hatch. Some subtle, sensible mods. Prodrive wheels, powerflex bushes, adjustable rear arms. Geometry setup to Prodrive 'fast tarmac' settings. Cosworth filter and full Scorpion exhaust. Mapped by Neil at Slowboy Racing.

Probably going up for sale soon

Exhaust is nice and subtle. You know it's a Jap performance car, but not too loud, and no drone at any speed or revs.

Just selling partly due to short commutes in traffic, and because I just fancy a change. We still be sad to see her go!

Just posted an advert on Pistonheads:

Do you have the prodrive settings? I wanted to setup mine with those, but I've not been able to find them for the wrx hatch.

Don't have them written down or saved. Just searched on here and googled.

From memory it was negative 1.2 camber front, negative 1.0 rear, and zero toe front and rear. Basically a little more negative camber front than rear to sharpen up steering and dial out understeer. An anti-lift kit helps even up and add a little more caster.

It was mapped on the road, not on rollers, so only an educated guess. Neil at Slowboy Racing says to expect 280 - 290 bhp. Certainly the drive home was a lot more fun! Boost coming in a lot earlier, and a lot more top end.

That's good to no, it's what I'm aiming for. Don't wanna go more than that because it becomes expensive then. Did you fit a Harvey up pipe and new top mount on yours ?

just a heads up if anyone is looking for Michelin super sports for their car (they are normally about £ 154 fitted at cheapest) Just got them at ....ahem.. Kwik fit for £ 127 fitted.
When I imported my car in April, the Japan only re070`s were perished and quite worn, so I have spent the last 6 months wondering what to replace them with. The hatch spec C was built around the tyres, so I am worried that I will loose some of the amazing steering response and turn in with the Michelins. I did consider more track orientated tyres like psc2`s, ad08r`s but the recent wet weather has changed my mind, and it`s a daily that we both use. I would use the re070`s again in the blink of an eye, though

I`m getting them on your recommendation, so at least I`ll have someone to blame if they are a disappointment

Initial feedback on Kwik fit and Michelins; I was pleasantly surprised. Immediately offered a reasonable coffee, no power sockets used, very clean, happy to let me stand over them. Small problem with titanium nut cross threaded, doubtful it was their fault, manager immediately offered to pick up my wife who was waiting in town.
Michelin super sports have much softer sidewalls than Bridgestone 070`s, and a squarer shoulder ( possibly because new, dur?) They are more civilised to drive with, being more forgiving in terms of ride, excellent in the wet, but lacking that hardcore edge that the 070`s had; a good compromise for now.

When are you thinking of getting it done? I'm up that way (well Worcester) in a couple of weeks and you could listen to mine which is a 2.5" full decat H&S with a resonator as it was LOUD when it was first fitted with a non-resonated centre section.

I'm running 371/411 with forged pistons (drop ins on brand new short block), Mishimoto CAI, H&S decat and uprated fuel pump.

Default Mats

Bit off topic. Does anyone know where I can get myself a set of all weather subaru mats for my 2010 hatch?

Thanks for the offer mate. I decided against it as still on standard internals and living in a cul d sac 5am going to work is noisey enough.

Cheers anyway

It was booked in tomorrow Friday 11/11/2016 👎🏻

Gutted but think it's the safer option tbf
