im not blowing any horn, i really dont need to. i simply stated a fact that oil mayo can gather on the underside of an oil cap on any engine used on short trips. you told me i was wrong
im basing my answer on personnel experience not what the internet says or what i read on the internet, neither am i concerned one bit about it.
That happens on any car under the oil cap if you only drive short distances

I've had my Tomioka Racing AOS in use for 4+ years with no negatives only positives.
As previously mentioned, oil consumption dropped and the intercooler is spotless.
Had to take it off today to replace my boost gauge pressure sensor and this is what it's like.......
just the faintest trace of oil on the bottom edge.
None of my previous subaru intercoolers have ever been so clean inside.
As for the mayo, never seen it in 19 years of subarus and mine does both short trips and long - a daily driver.
I suspect the Aus legacy quoted has more problems than just short trips and cold weather
The Grimspeed AOS vents the head breathers and the crankcase breather (off the pcv tee) via two separate lines, the Tomioka Racing AOS tees them together into one line.
The heads are also cross linked to the crankcase in a closed loop which doesn't need to be vented externally.
Pipe 4 above - LH header breather
Pipe 2 below - RH header breather
Pipe 3 below is removed and replaced with a pipe to the AOS, its feed into the turbo inlet pipe is blanked off.
Thank you for your reply , that's the problem getting someone decent to look at it. It's a 2008 wrx sti hatchback only got 37,000 miles on the clock and treated with kid gloves. To add to it sounds as if my exhaust is starting to blow as well.

completley understand - its hard to find that reliable garage that specialises in them & doesnt take the hand
regarding the exhaust, genuine replacement parts can be picked up cheap enough - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/311586207525 - i purchased one of these way towards end of last year, and they are brand new/delivery miles as described, subaru price is £300+ approx for replacement centre section. all depends where it is blowing though
Take it to the Subaru place in Carlisle..they have a decent reputation on here, everyone says speak to Rob, he is on here..assuming you are near Falkirk you could be down there in less than 2 hours...as for the exhaust, it could just be a gasket, had mine done for £60-£70 at the main S Wales dealer, that was part and labour

Hi been looking into getting the s206 braces package of jap part but concerened about the strut tower bar fitting over my bigger top mount. Could any one with an sti strut bar or any strut bar with the standard or any top mount really tell me how much clearance they have between the two.

Thanks for the reply looks good I'm still a bit concerened about clearance what distance do you have between the cooler and the black plastic because I have very little room
Look like I may just get away with it tho. You have the anniversary one have you noticed and improvement in handling? I quite fancy the regular one with the red ends to match my battery tie down

You mean like this ? only the ends are a different colour.
The standard "red" version comes in cherry blossom pink rather than cherry red (unless they've changed it)
I repainted mine.
The vertical compliance the hinged brace gives improves tyre contact with the road especially over our potholed roads
Used to run a Summit brace - the STi one is better.

The car does feel better with it fitted. Only the STi one would do for me..
Sti official is the way to go, they say when used in conjunction with the flexible lower bar too it's supposed to significaly improve handling. But only if you use the two flexi bars together if you use a rigid bar up top or down bottom it is said to counteract each other

UPDATE:
I believe they changed the colour of the ends when it became a "mainstream" Subaru accessory. I originally bought mine when it was still an STi part

Got the car mapped last week 368bhp/364 feels good but the mapper said the HKS air filter wasn't the best and would of preferred I use a K+N. Went for a cheeky blast down the lanes with my pal in his 2006 Hawkeye spec c that was mapped by the same mapper and been set up by Chevron Motorsport and my car kept on his **** all the way in the twistys, in fact my hatch was quicker out of the corners but on the dual carriage way he would come past me at 80ish. Point is these strut braces must work because his Spec C is an animal! I drove it after mine down the same road and really enjoyed the rawness but no where near as stable on the high speed corners. Must be the flexy braces! The spec c was probably more fun TBO but as an all round car mine is much much better, horses for courses I suppose

Thanks everyone for your help. Lazscobby recommended a garage in bonnybridge. He has had a look and the wheel hub assembly that was replaced just over a year ago needs done again. Booked in for this Friday fingers crossed that sorts the problem.

Is it a R205 or 20th anniversary you own? If so it's not only the brace that makes the difference.
The hatch is a lot more stable than the hawk anyway.
