the std sti Springs are too floaty in my opinion, thats why i put coilovers on mine, just grips and grips even at stupid speeds

The rear spring rates are also far too low, these have been changed as part of the 'spec c' suspension now on the UK cars (up 53% at the rear compared to 15% front). Confirmed by the well engineered coilovers having higher spring rates at the rear rather than the impreza norm of higher at the front due to the vastly different motion ratio. The rear end along with the steering is not good.

Can confirm Spec C suspension on new cars is way better. I thought my 58 hatch STi gripped well - but that was before getting my new 320R saloon. The difference is amazing.

Eibach lowering springs or coilovers if you can afford em. Whiteline rear ARBs to get it sticking. Cheap upgrade and works a treat

These plastic inserts are a must for the hatch (only cost £30 odd quid iirc).

Whiteline ARB will sort the roll (front and back work very well together) - Powerstation who did the development for the hatch T20 recommend both.

Springs / coilovers will improve it all again but it all depends how much you want to destroy the ride 'comfort'.

A

NB floaty back end will step out when 'pushed' - feels like a twisted elastic band beginning to knot (worst tech explanation ever but you 'know what I mean'.) Plassie inserts stop the play in the floating rear subframe...

Unhappy poor support for the new cars

NO HATCH STAND @ NBO

Due to the lack of interest and speaking with the other hatch Stand manager, it has been decided to disband the very small 'club' stand.
maybe next year we will have better support.

can all those listed below make sure they are still attending with other clubs who are willing to support the NBO.

Sorry, we can't get the numbers up this year. We did try.

Rob
I have noticed that sometimes when accelerating hard some smoke from the exhaust

as mentioned earlier I've had to top up the oil , last time on the 13th May as it was below minimum

is this the sign of oil leaking past the pistons again???

It's either one of two things, either under heavy acceleration the oil has been blown up through the breathers and has gone through the intake. or the piston ringland has fractured. lift the intercooler off after its been parked overnight and see how much oil is sat in the turbo outlet and the intercooler. if its allot then sounds like the engine is knackered again

Between me and a mate at work we've had 5 failures, not sure how many they've sold but it'll go a long way towards that percentage from just two owners.

Paul.

Take the oil filler cap off and see how hard it's blowing, if it gone or going then the pressure leakage from the cylinders will be blowing at the cap.

Question Trim removal

Hi all, when i had my gauges fitted the centre console part which has the light up STi logo got damaged. Bought another but struggling to remove the damaged one. The gearknob end is easy to get free but the part where the cig lighter blank is won't let go. Do i need to remove 1/2 the dash or is there just 1 clip somewhere which loosens it all?
Cheers, Steve

Fair play to you guys for persevering with these cars. As much as I like them I would be on edge all the time - especially nearing the end of the warranty!
