It's easy to me as I've pulled that many hatch engines apart for rebuilds + We've got all the specialist tools here lol. Turns out the distinct possibility that the cosworth gaskets that were fitted to mine were more suited to the hawkeye, apparently they now make a different one for the hatch with more of a reinforced area around the water jacket at the bottom on the cylinder, but this gasket isn't usable on a hawkeye so there must be some slight differences in the head design. but I'm happy enough that it wasnt a build fault it was a simple component that isn't really up to the job with the cylinder head and block design... Just now patiently waiting for cosworth to deliver me the new parts I require and we are good to go again...

5050 SMD bulbs rae brighter than LEDs I've fitted the 9x 5050SMDs
(you can get them from here.. http://www.neoquip.com/shop/bulbs_12...Bulbs_166.html in either the 9 or the 13)
Bit fiddly to get to them, remove the plasic screw clips under the wheel arch, turn the wheel inwards to make it easy to get to, then ease the plasic trim away so you can get your arm up to reach the side light holder, when your hands on it, twist it out the holder and then you can remove the bulb, once removed, put back in and twist to lock in place. (The 'stem' will be on the outter side, you'll know what I mean when you feel it with your hand)

One side done..

in place..

both done..

with HID's on too

what do you think?

Its a pure bright white, that has a slight clean blu look to it, goes better with the Blu look of the HIDs.

I've put some 13's in my Smart car and the 9's in the wifes Focus and our Corsa Combi Van.

Did find the really cold weather they were 'cold' temperamental, on the van one looked like it had gone out, took it out, tested it and nothing up with it, re fitted and its been fine, think the cold shocked everything lol

Not sure if I posted a photo of the GTR so here it is.
I test drove loads of cars and this was the only car that made me think the change was worth it.
I need to think twice before I go anywhere in it, I could jump in the Subaru without worrying. These are photos of it before it had been valeted and through Middlehursts work shop. Middlehursts were brilliant and I love the car. MPG almost identical to the subaru.

Nice car Chris

There must be at least four GTRs I see around here on a regular basis. Thats far more than I see hatch STi's lol Mrs was selling her house and some young mid-20's plumber came around for a viewing in a dark grey / graphite GTR. She told me off for taking a pic of it on the drive haha.

How do you find it size wise as they do look huuuuge ?

Don't suppose you've got a picture of them Rob?

Subaru should really update their website more often.
And they're £20 on here

Truth is it's rubbish.

Must have lost a good few quid off us lot who can't say no to the odd upgrade or two.

Those STI Pads Fade like a biatch when they get hot
allright for light braking but anything more the pedal slowly dissappears

Cheers Rob, will have to wait until I get back from holiday next week, I know they were on "special offer" when I was in a couple of weeks ago.

Fingers crossed they still are!

LOL... never take what it says in a brochure as fact... they are trying to sell stuff to you ;-)

I'd take Rob's personal experience as a better marker.

You're a salesman's dream

I was never 100% happy with the braking feel of my hatch.... yes it stopped but you always felt you had to push harder than you wanted too...
