Good point, but read your policy carefully as I actually had family legal cover and whilst it covered losses due to uninsured drivers and civil motoring disputes etc. it specifically did not cover defending against "criminal" motoring allegations. That is why I searched long and hard and decided on a policy that specifically includes this type of protection.
Like a lot of you my car is very distinctive (colour, wheels, ikea unit masquerading as a boot spoiler etc) and I know that sadly, this does make us targets for oafs in uniform who watch too many "Police Interceptor" type television programmes so I will never be without this type of insurance again.

Default Update

Legal proceedings still ongoing so cannot say much about that but for all you good souls who have been following this saga then you will like this.....

Female plod was doorstepped by members of the press investigating misconduct in the police! She complained that either me or my mates (in the police) gave her address to the press. It was actually her and her police federation representative who got the press involved (as you all know) and they are now scrambling around trying to blame someone else for the fact that they are stupid a..eholes.

Female and male plod are trying to fight disciplinary findings against them (apparently believing that attempting to pervert the course of justice is a normal and straightforward part of their job). Their criminal counsel have asked my criminal solicitor if he can send them all copies of photographs and videos I took at the time to assist their appeal. Now how likely do you all think it is that I would do anything to aid these repulsive mendicants? You could not make this stuff up could you?

Brilliant, glad it's all coming together for you and coming apart for them!

It does make one wonder though just how many people have been bitten by things like this but have just accepted it and not challenged it like yourself?

As a new member I sorry to hear about your predicament and hope the truth prevails. But I'm sorry I just can't support a lot of the members here who have come on, not shown you support apart from a few words and then launched into an attack on the Police. By no means am I supporting the 2 officers if they have fabricated this, but to start referring to the Police as a whole as 'filth' etc etc etc is some members personal and probably quite unwarranted comments which I'm sure would go down a treat with the Police when you need them. A lot are quick to jump on an anti Police bandwagon, but who's there when the s#!t hits the fan when we've pushed that scooby too far and they have to go knocking on our loved ones door.

Just food for thought, it's ok to support a fellow member if they are innocent, but surely we can keep it to supporting them and not turning into a bunch of hyenas.

cosmichamster its more the automatic assumption made by the police that ends up in scenarios like this which waste so much public money.

they maybe wright or wrong - although the current evidence says wrong - but there failure to back down when a mistake is made. yes they are ther wher any hi powered sports vehicle is crashed and there are victims involved - but this is not solely linked ti impreza drivers.
mysellf adn amany of the people making comments on here have fell victim tim to incorrect assumption and its frustrating to say the leaset

lets hope the coppers learn and the driver and both come away better road users - its just a shame if this does come to cause the public a load of money just down to a persons inability to accept when they are wrong

who knows??

Default Anti Police?

I have a close friend who is a traffic cop (and a petrol head) and before I bought my Impreza he warned me that there were significant numbers of his workmates who, for reasons much too long winded to go into here, would hassle and harass Impreza owners on a routine basis simply because of their choice of car. He is acutely aware that, had I behaved in the way these two constables did, that I would have been imprisoned and he knows that there is not a level playing field when ordinary folk (as most users of this forum are) are dealt with by police constables.

The Home Office in London describes police constables as "smug, self serving and complacent, who operate in a culture of secrecy and solidarity and who firmly believe that the law is something that only applies to others and never, ever to themselves". Could not have put it better myself.

I am also a newbe I just want to say that what you are doing is a tribute to every person that has stood up for themselves against acts of either pure jealousy ,hatred or just plain stupidity.I cannot agree with some people's comments tho as I don't think it's right to tar all police with the same brush as I myself have been in a serious rta that was not my fault and the officers I dealt with we're some of the most helpful and caring people I have ever met rant over again tho good on you for holding your corner mate keep it up

Default The wheels of justice grind slowly!

No there is not much happening at the moment. My solicitor is waiting to see what else the two constables and their advisors do as regards their attempt to have the decision to discipline them judicially reviewed before we progress my claim for damages and personal injuries against Strathclyde Police (or their successor organisation) any further.
My solicitor hopes that the counsel for the two oafs will attempt to use some of my files during any review giving me the chance to tell the Court of Session exactly what type of constables they are dealing with. I cannot believe that they will be stupid enough to do this but I live in hope.

Hope everyone is looking forward to some light nights and some nice (safe) drives. I am sorely, sorely tempted by the WRX-STI with the 340 pack fitted after the recent price cuts but then the Litchfield Spec. C Sport looks even better fun..................

'Mild' thread ressurect...

Indeed.

I found myself in a very similar situation to yourself - and I successfully 'got off' the speeding conviction!

To cut a long story short, I employed the services of a solicitor to draw up a detailed map of the road layout, etc. in question, with a supporting statement in mitigation, etc, etc. (but it was more a damning of the complainant copper, than mitigation lol ).

As soon as the complainant copper at court saw this evidence he couldn't believe the lengths the defendant had gone to, and instructed the magistrates to simply throw out the case. He then pissed off with his tail firmly between his legs.

Hopefully, the same thing will happen to you.

Another case of injustice by the Police Joz?

I was brought up to respect the Police but it's actually quite a hard thing to do nowadays after hearing of some of the wrong doings they have done to people.

They don't do them self's any favours do they?

Yep.

They prosecute expecting you're not gonna question it, one iota.

But in this instance 'I knew' I had a case worth fighting.
