Ali-B,
You are right in what you say...... everything in context, BUT......

I would suspect the impression is that now a multi-million dollar company is now responsible for ScoobyNet, that things may of been handled better than when two monkeys used to run in from their ZX81 in the coal shed. I am sure that is part of the perception. This is all about managing your customers expectations..... when we ran ScoobyNet no-one expected anything.

Business is business and customers are customers.

I am absolutely sure that things will be resolved though and to be honest I feel sorry for you guys getting it in the neck from us mortals, when you are not the guys responsible for actually "doing" the corrective work or managing how the migration took place.

I too have thought that the speed recently has been absolutely shocking BUT I've just swapped my browser to Opera and it's like a revelation. The site is not quite as quick as other sites I visit but not far off it, in comparison to how it has been recently it's positively speedy.

I'm so surprised.

So, yes things are slow and crap at the moment. But I am adamant that this is nothing any worse than what SN has previously suffered over the years. Not that its a good thing, as it currently it is not acceptable. That is why Stu and IB are endeavoring to sort it out. But a little perspective on things does help one appreciate how bad the performance SN has been at various points over the years. And like back then, speed issues were resolved one way or the other. Just like they will be when all the current issues are eventually resolved.
Ali

Perhaps I should have worded that slightly different to read, ' Never in the 10 years of ME using SN have I experienced it as slopw as it has been since the migration to the US and upgrade of Vbulletin'

Then you wouldnt be able to disagree with me at all

I did say in the rest of my post, that SN has been slow in the past, but to me personally it has never been as slow as it is now

What makes it ten times worse is what Shaun said, SN is now owned and ran by a multi million dollar company and is now on much faster servers etc, but I am actually yet to see that happen, and it is no longer run on a shoe string budget in someones backgarden

I know search caused a problem a bit back, but the Bold threads has now gone because it is causing a speed issue, yet this was never a problem in the past either

I know it is being looked at, but the amount of time taken is a little excessive, with still no light at the end of the tunnel, like I have said before if this was me with a customer site with these issues and this length of time I would more than likely be looking for another job

But then some of the things I do are a bit more critcal than a public forum on the internet, and sometimes lives can be at stake, we never roll out anything live without running on a test system first

You should have made yourself clearer then..

No one is objecting to giving you feedback, but it seems like the feedback were

I am now using IE8 final release, and either it, or SN is now faster than it was. 11 secs or thereabouts to load now from 20 odd, but FF is still far faster.
Posting this reply took 4 secs, editing the same. Loading any pages takes the time for me on IE.

I still cant use SN

When clicking to view a thread I now have enough time to go over to the Focus ST forum, start a big new thread, read some replies to it and get back here just in time to see the content show up.

I'll leave for a few months and pop back in the summer to see what has happened - maybe in that time some of the trolls in NSR will have jumped ship as well.

Well Stu,

I took your offer and registered on passionford.

Seems IB need to go bughunting bigtime!!

it was much quicker than here!! icons & adverts load ubersmooth.

Also when i step backwards and forwards through threads, there is non of that background shape shifting going on before a page loads.

The format which cannot be altered, dosent look bad, and actually makes the page size look ok.

Hint white pages, white border= big page illusion
And may i suggest you dont get changing rooms to do the colour schemes in future, turqoise / white /grey isnt a good colour match

So there you have it.

Other forums running the "same" software dont have a problem, yet SN still does.

Prehps nows the time to admit its gone pete tong, and until it can be resolved properly, go back to the old (ok anarchic,& wheezing) board and ask IB to sort it properly..

i haven't been on here much this week, it hasn't really got any better has it

i'm using a mates laptop and it seems a little quicker, but that's running the same specs as mine so maybe IB are heading in the right direction? hopefully, it's getting boring now.

You cannot say it was really slow before the change Stu! Come on. If it was that bad you would have had a forum full of moaning. That only started after all the latest changes that IB have made. Good or bad as those changes may have been, it is bad now. I too am hardly using it at the moment.

I am on a Mac using Tiger and Safari 3.2 and it is slowish. Takes about 5-6 seconds to go from one page to the next, or open up a thread. Replying take longer.

I have tried FF3 and its still the same.

I am a member on ImprezaSport.Net and this is now fast a site should be, its instantaneous .:ImprezaSport.net Forums:. (Powered by Invision Power Board)

Try it.

Without your feedback on the vote its as though its fast enough for people not to care anymore to be honest. If you need us to know about the latest changes, vote now so the tech team have real workload feedback from today only as requested.

yep, c'mon guys. get those votes in.

how many times did we have a chance to voice an opinion with the old regime? if you don't say something's crap it'll just tick along like this all the time

thanks for taking on board my comments stu, personally i think the options are spot on in this poll
