I don't have an after market oil cooler on mine per Pat's recommendation. as car was not intended to be a track car.

The headers look like poor design and workmanship. Were they expensive?

Harvey, they are HKS items. The same as I had on previously which managed 682/550 so not sure where you coming from with that comment ?

Look down into the header pipe run. You can see the lips for yourself. This will interfere with the gas flow. You should not need to port new headers out of the box.
Were they expensive?
Good results regardless.

They were second hand Harvey, so no not expensive. They were on Sloobys (from 22b) car previously unported and made 490 @ 1.5 bar on a rotated set up.

However I ran a set of these previously as I mentioned and these were ported at the lip just as I have done to this set. Hopefully they will see me way past 700bhp this time around on next seasons spec.

Another drag car update. I recently removed the big 6 pot brakes from the car intending to pop a set of Subaru 4 pots on to save weight. However I thought it worth looking in to lighter options. One of the guys over on 22b found a lightweight set up in the states usings wilwood calipers - http://www.amsperformance.com/cart/A...Kit-Front.html

This kit is a little pricey though so I thought I would look to get my own made up. So once I found the calipers - http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/popup_i...qdkdlhislmgd04 I spoke with Alyn of AS Performance who will arrange for brackets to be fabricated to use the OE 294mm discs, he will also supply pads from Performance Friction.

So far then I have paid £270 delivered for 2 new callipers that weigh just 2.5lbs each. I don't know what the cost of the brackets will be yet but my kit will be somewhat cheaper than the kit from the US

Clive: If you want any more headers wrapped I will do you a good deal seeing as it is you and I will wrap each runner separately. I have DEI Titanium here but would not recommend it. No itching yes but it is very open mesh and does not do as good a job as the normal DEI even although it is more expensive.

No pics but a small update. Alyn for AS performance has already sorted out specs for the brackets for my new calipers and they will be ready early in Jan. He will also be producing standard size discs but modified with alloy bells which will save my approx 1kg per disc.

If there is anyone else thinking of saving weight on brakes for their own application Alyn will happily sort you out, he is even considering offering a kit based on these Wilwood calipers. If your car is for track rather than drag use then he can sort you the relavent disc/pad combo.

As for the engine - It will be re-assembled with all new bearings, studs, rings etc during the Xmas break. Mark from Lateral has supplied all the parts for this as per the last engine. Sticking with a tried a tested formula here

I also need to say thanks to Frayz who is sorting me a baffled sup for the car, ran a standard sump last time around but I though whilst it is apart I should change it.

So with luck on my side I hope to have it running by the end of Jan, a few miles of running in then it will be off to Zen for mapping early Feb if the plan comes together !

Looks like yours will be mapped up properly before mine, only interested in getting mine sorted for Marham. Mine has been parked on the drive since I picked it up. Its hard to see it on my drive now with all the snow

As for the baffled sump Alyn does a cracking part ex on them as I have one on my car from him.

Well that's the plan Steve on timing but you know how these things go. I would deffo like to test etc before Marham (if it goes ahead and we get the invite).

Alyn did not have any single scroll ones in so Frayz has kindly offered to get me one made very quickly. Alyn is doing loads of stuff for me already as you know.

looking forward to see your car run again, are you changing the spec in anyway to achieve the higher bhp figure?

Well I keep doing a few small jobs whilst I wait for the engine to come back.

I removed the Airbag sensors, wrapped up the lower part of loom that runs under rad as this was looking nasty from heat from the headers. So heat reflective tape used.

I bought a proper lightweight battery a while back and aluminium tray. Was going to pop behind passenger seat like the Type R but change my mind so as not to add weight with thick cables

This arrived with me today a 1.06 exhaust housing for my turbo, am hoping this will gain me circa 30bhp on last years set up. Came from Steven D via the Clinic where Pat was using it for some secret testing
