Type R caged track machine

Now the MOT is booked thought I had better sort a few bits out, so fitted a horn and number plates tonight. Also rooted the catch can breather pipe out of the way as that was hanging on the floor. Need to order some wipers and some more harness eyes as I found I had run out.

Nearly there now with the Type R for it's MOT, thought I had better actually pop some rear light bulbs in and connect indicators on the front bumper Still got no wipers or belts but will sort them tomorrow.
Got a day off work tomorrow for a day with Paul @ Zen, a few tweeks for the blue cars Syvecs. I am going to get the Auto lock DCCD enabled for launching and a couple of other bits doing.

Update on both cars. Been over to Zen today and Paul set up the auto DCCD, this will enable auto lock for launching and automatically unwinding the diff as I run up the strip.
We also threw in a dash of VP 109 fuel to compare to the 20% meth mix, the surprising result was a drop in power ! First run (in third gear) was 614bhp, the best on 109 was 587bhp. Great in a way as Meth and V-Power is a damn sight cheaper
When I returned home a sorted a few bits for the MOT tomorrow, wiper arms on and started fitting the belts, will need to get up early to finish the last few things to make sure it passes It's now booked in with Paul on the 21st for mapping

If you don't mind the spendy stuff Clive, the Sunoco MAXNOS 119ron stuff is VERY good.
I run 20% meth too on an daily basis, mixing it with 97 or Tesco 99 dependant on how far I feel like driving for fuel. I would run a bit more meth but I don't feel like running more than 4 bar base pressure through the fuel lines without aeromotive fittings on them.
It is interesting to hear you lost power, in essence you increased the octane rating by 4-5 points, yet reduced the knock resistance due to the loss of the cooling effect from the meth. Did Paul happen to tell you how much less ignition it would take ?

drained/pumped the v-power and meth right out before running the 109. I think the cooling effect of the methanol more than makes up for the slight change in octane between the two.
I tried to push for more power with the 109 but it simply wasn't coming. A high comp engine might see a different result but for now I think Clive is happy with how it is, which is nearly 2 years on from the initial completion of the build and it's not missed a beat.
Clive drove it in and out too!

I am more than happy with the car as is, the reliability and results speak for themselves.
However we always want more don't we That was the point of dropping some 109 in there. I may try the Sunoco 119 in the future given it is priced better than the 109 I used !
I do have other ideas but I am very restricted by budget, this is not a big budget car. When the engine eventually comes out for a refresh we might do a few more things. Cam wheels etc are on the wish list.

Type R in the MOT station
As it does need mapping I didn't push it too much on the road although the car is more or less exact same spec as the power FC was mapped to before except for larger injectors so I just adjusted via the commander for that.
However I was amazed by the spool ! 1 bar by 2900rpm in 6th gear, not bad eh for a T on a 2.0 ! Rather perky to say the least Who says a T is too big for a 2.0
