Zen (and others) indeed reckon on £700-800 WITHOUT a skim and nothing else, but I'm hoping more like getting on for £grand WITH skimming and, perhaps, new cam cover gaskets, front oil seal... accessible "while I'm there..." stuff like that.

I await...

Tony, YHPM...

Or take out AA repair cover, pay the first £25 and they pay the rest

Good Luck with this fella.

Paypal will honour a 100% payback don't worry about this, as they will deal with all ebay issues.

Obviously item not as described but SMR will just give you loada Cr** but insist you want the refund and you shall be taking it further.

shame youre having to do it again though aint it! how can they just hope that engines are gonna be ok? Obvoiusly they hadnt even tested this one in the car it came out of or it would have shown the same symptoms you have now.

hope you get it sorted soon mate

Just rang API enquiring about HG replacement and the assistant mentioned exactly the same time for engine out.

So you got API technician-like skills!... Ask David for a job... LOL

To rule out blocked pipes/rad, take the car out again and give it some boost for the symptoms to happen again i.e. boost causing an airlock... causing temps to rise... causing coolant out an header tank, etc. Then carefully remove the pressure cap and stick your nose in the opening - does it smell of horrible combustion gases (rather than sweet antifreeze)? If so, then 100% HG!...

(I'm waiting on a HGs replacement/heads skim quote from Zen as we speak. Already had a quote from RCM...).

How about a quote from APi?

Oops, Sorry Joz, just seen the above post.

Ha! I was just about to email you for a 'firm' quote - then saw your post!

Any chance of a quote for the work? - please email. If you wish to speak to me in person, then mention it in the email and I'll ring you...
