a blunt chisel works best.. less chance of going through the metal

it is very easy to do..

replaced green cable ties.. lol

also fitted smaller plate.. square and too one side..

stripped new engine down to just short engine.. can't find my circlip pliers so not removed pistons yet but the block EJ22T as far as I can tell looks 100% so worth buying the whole engine for it

you can do it with a heat gun and scrapper if you don't like hammers but it is much harder work that way

Well!
Been away mapping for a few days and collected a few parts which I will probably go into later as whilst travelling home feeling good having made some decisions on what I want from the car.
Then just into headlight reach on a dark stretch of the m20 appears a badger!
Now living where I do I have had a few animal run ins and at motorway speeds if you have no time to think then you must ignore your instinct.
So I am very sorry mr badger and any badger lovers reading this.
So big impact!
How much do badgers way? F me they must be heavy.
I am currently waiting for a recovery truck and I am so so thankfully I bought a fire extinghser last month!

A fully grow male can tip just over 25kg so times that by your speed and a little bit of fancy maths and you could find that your had an impact weight of as much as 250kg and you have to factor in the impact area ie size of Badger to size of contact on car.
A 25kg Badger hit head on at 100mph would go though the radiator and could crack the block.
They are tough little critters.

Look to have come off v lucky.
Splitter and fmic seem to have taken brunt.
Intercooler undamaged but has dented the front of cross member, but cross member not moved back.
Force on fmic made pipework go through the back of rad.
Have picked up my spare rad from storage.
The aging wrap on headers came off and the spliter caught light on them!
Only seems to be singe marks and the odd melted wire loom tape.
Will get rad in later and sort another bumper anon.
It will have to wear battle scars at marham 30-130mph even next weekend!
I am assuming engine is ok as runs ok but will know for sure later

Hope you don't hold me partially responsible

Shame, as the car looked good, for the couple of hours I spent "baby-sittig" it !

Hope it's not too bad to fix her up.

Had a wee run out today, oil changed and I'm more than quite chuffed, many thanks for your hard work, and sorry I was a bit slow getting used to the "nasty" clutch...

lol.. why do you attract badgers?

From

to (I washed it and tidied up before taking this pic)

Right changed the rad, and engine seem perfect and temps all good..

whilst rad was out I inspected intercooler as could then see back of it clearly and could see nothing wrong with it..

Took it for a bit of a drive and not hitting full boost.. lost 0.5bar.. damn..
so removed intercooler and double checked it and still could find nothing wrong so started checking pipework and found the problem..

Easy fix then I think/hope...

A new splitter may cover most of bumper damage until I get around sourcing another and cutting it for fmic and then getting sprayed etc..

unless anyone has a phase 2 bumper already cut and for sale?

all sorted now.. although too late to take it out again to check..

interesting there is a semi circle marking on the intercooler, not noticed it before but clear in the above pictures..

I think I was very lucky and as the impact was low down I sort of lifted up over the poor thing..

so ignoring yesterday for a minute.. lol

this week I have collected some more bits..

Many thanks to John Stevenson for making a rear bulk head for me from ally..

I have bought a Kaaz rear diff as I hope it will further improve handling etc on track, and one came up secondhand.

I paid Mark @ Lateral Performance a visit at his new premises..
so now have a Sti newage pitch stop which is a fair bit beefier than the aging one on the car.. (not as beefy as your beetrush one 53! but probably less vibes through the car) also picked up various gaskets for when I do sort the new engine along with some ceramic coated headers.. trying to spread the cost of engine replacement and rather then removing current headers to get them coated I will sell the current ones once coated ones are fitted.

Oh dear

Not good... at least not too much damage.

My Dad hit a badger in his Celica (06 shape) and it took out the front bumper and splitter. I've been fortunate enough to have only ever wiped out squirrels.

Good luck getting it back on track.

Hope to god you have a load plate behind the cage Simon. As Rob says, you also need more bolts.

Did you leave the plastic cover on the aluminium deliberatly?

Sorry to hear the bad news of ownage by a badger. (Must be one for the dungeon section?)

I trust you left a sticker with Mr Badger to wear with pride during your good days hunting?

Nice cross member sir.

there are 3 bolts in each side although that pic doesn't look like that.
The drill won't go in from the inside due to the bar.. haven't had time to drill it from wheel arch etc..

pins 2 and 4 on the maf plug for the air temp sensor I left you
