Decided it is time to get the car absolutly how I want it.. been chiselling away at it (literally) but over the next few months the fussy head can go on and anything I am not 110% happy with can get changed..

brief history.. bought the car as a rolling shell off a friend Steven Darley.. car had previously been owned by Alan Bell.. so was known..

As the car arrived..

it met my two criteria.. green and cheap..

it had the original engine with it but I wan't intending using it

engine in (2.5 with MD321T)

needing a clean but running after 4weeks of my spare time

after some TLC

Car has done over 20k since I had it running in April..

but currently off the road with no interior.. due to halfway through cage fitting

this being the first task.. remove unwanted weight from the car and fit cage..
roof lining has been removed, matting behind dash on bulkhead has gone, all panels in boot have gone, airbag control unit and wiring and sensors removed...
the floor sound proofing chiselled off
before

after

before

after

piles of stuff removed

dash needs to come out again to fit OMP cage behind it whcih is the next task when I get any spare time..

jobs already underway are ported and polished version 6 heads, with uprated valves, springs and wild cams..

new engine is going to be 2.35l.

finish fitting this cage.. drive it for a month or so and if happy with cage then weld it in (it is an OMP bolt in) and add an extra cross bar and a harness bar.. it will then get used until the new engine is ready..

plan is
2.35l with v6 heads and wildcams..
rotated MD321T to start with running at around 2bar boost
but I intend powder coating or painting anything and everything..

I hate the car off the road so as much of the engine I will build up before removing this one

I am not sure whether to stick with the ppg straight cut gearset I have in it now which I love the noise of or if I will shredd it and should just go to 6speed.. I am speccing everything to take over 600 if I choose to bolt the appropriate turbo on.

I like it the more I see it..

did you add any of the dish cloths that were behind panels I presume to stop interior noises?? there were several in the roof lining and behind side panels
rather ironic with how loud it is inside now with no sound proofing and a straightcut gearset

if the engine takes longer than planned I may rotate it on current engine just to see the difference it makes.
