PS20 What would a respectable time be for one lap in a street car ? Say the average Scoob?

Clive (Mr competitive ) best thing i can say is don't worry about times, treat it as a fine b road, it will take you many laps to even remember some of the corners and with virtually no run off area and the prospect of a big bill if you do go off (car, barriers, track closed etc) i really don't think it worth worrying about the time

Wise words, and the reason that I'm cautious about doing a few laps myself. As a friend of mine can confirm, you can have quite a large bill if you go off!

I'm down there in September, but am still unsure whether or not I'll take the Scoob. Maybe I'll tag along with you lot next year and bring the car then, though I'll have to complete the few upgrades that I've planned so that I can keep up with you

You know me too well Gramps .

I have noted the advise given, I also have a long time to learn The Ring on a simulator that we have, and to be fair today's simulators are extremely accurate on the correct software.

I was just curious of the average times, that's all.

Definitely take the Scoob, i did my first lap of the ring in half wet half dry conditions, just take it at your own pace and you will be fine

What kind of simulator Clive, if it's a games console then everyone that has been to the ring has said it's nothing like it once it's your own car

I fully understand what you are saying. "Simbin" use GPS and CAD print data that is so accurate.
I have driven around Brands many times and been on the Simbin simulation of Brands and the realism is incredible. Gradients, cambers, bumps and surface data is virtually 100% accurate.
Race teams use them on a regular basis for new circuits / or driver's new to international circuits.
Grip levels will need to be learned but the basic circuit and surface info is shockingly realistic.!

Think back to the nineties when Jack Villeneuve was in his first F1 season. I cant remember what circuit it was but he had never driven this particular circuit. Williams put him on a sim before he went and he qualified in pole.
Mclaren admitted that Hamilton had spent over 20,000 hours in sims prior to his F1 introduction.

Good day at Brands today (Time Attack).
Left car up on the South East Scooby stand all day and down to the pits.

Felt for Paul of Zen's who went out early with an oil pressure prob. Not sure who won as I needed to leave before the end. Anyone know ?????

A car was put up against a race race bike (not sure of model), to compare laps, & Olly was nominated. On the edge driving resulted entering a deep gravel trap sideways at 107mph!. Olly & car ok.

Good hooking up with you again Daz Davis

Hope you enjoyed the day Hugh

The P1 will be back up RCM within a few months.

Had a good chat with Matt & Mark (Mech), and the car's next tweaks are as follows:-

Activation of Launch Control
Carbon Prop
Map for NF fuel
Air Conditioning being removed (Never used it in 4 yrs)

I did not speak with Olly today about that Steve. I was chatting with Matt.

It was my choice. I have been thinking about it and just want to do it. It must ease power delivery turning less weight. The only down side may be less traction?
One way to find out mate

My grip level at mo is really good. It may prove the wrong move?

I have always wanted one and soooo many people have put me off. Even chatting with paul he said I don't really need one but if it was on his car he would. I think even if I added one I doubt I would see any difference I would just hope it was making a difference ???

Steve Guglielmi won.
Your car looked very clean Skull when I saw it on the scooby stand. The twisted turbo kit looks awesome.

Echo about Zen, felt really sorry for them.

You would see a bigger difference from fitting adjustable cam pulleys to get the timing to its optimum point Steve, especially with uprated cams.

MartP1 has an engine very similar to mine other than his crank and his is a 2.2 and lighter than mine due to a slight strip out, yet Marti suffers from bad traction lose. I am sure Marti is running a carbon prop.

He is developing around 40 - 50 Bhp more than I currently am yet I suffer very little traction lose if the surface is flat & smooth?

I will shortly be trying some launches using my Anti Lag to see what difference that makes. I have not tried this yet.

Had a great day thanks Clive.
Nice to meet up with Daz.
Enjoyed the passenger lap in the Bugatti.
The C/Prop is a bit like a "clean car" which always seems to go faster.
Go sequential .05 of a second gear change at full throttle.

I am positive, I would not spend money on stuff I did not need (being a tight Yorkshireman an all ) If people are advocating that you will see optimum power without using adjustable pulleys to setup timing on aftermarket cams, then you're talking to the wrong people.

I will be running adjustable pulleys on the 2.5 with nos and on the 2.3 when it is built.

Madhammer, I'm either coming down late friday afternoon or saturday morning for the car! So I may pop into santa pod if I have time Pauls sorting it this week so hopefully your BHP record for pauls will no longer be the highest

Banny, I was going to put RCM cam pillies in mine but after speaking to paul he said that I would buy them and find out the timing was ok! So I just saved the £600 If I want them in now its an engine out job again

I will be at Zen early Saturday mate as I am dropping my other engine off to have the heads strapped on for my project car. Then off to the Pod.

Your 'possible' record may be shortlived as I am ordering my new ECU this week

Something is telling me that Madhammer will see his first 10 second run

Olly bought the goods down with him Sunday Clive (Brands TA).
My car was on show up the top, so Eureka (Steve) took the HEAVY box home in his boot as he was parked in the pits.

Steve is coming over this week and you will receive it as soon as mate.
