Or taking the kids to school ...
I think the point is that people buy Subarus because of:
i) The good looks and sex appeal ?
ii) The famous build quality ?
iii) The load carrying ability ?
NO
Because the are quick and and highly enjoyable when driving quickly ..
I think your comparison is a little unfair with regards to the 4 x 4s because people who buy these, do not generally do it for the off road ability ! The buy them for the road presence, the people carrying ability and the safety aspect..
Scoobs are bought IMHO, for the performance Vs versatility !!!
And so GET DRIVEN QUICKLY ..
Tiggs, I do not know your individual car but I would be curious to see if it is standard or not ?
Regards,
Paul

Paul,
my 4X4 comment came with a
and no one can post "why have a dog and bark yourself" without assuming someone will laugh- i laughed
i have PPP otherwise standard-ish, i have PPP so i can go quicker- lots quicker (although not as quick as i did on my bikes!)
"Scoobs are bought IMHO, for the performance Vs versatility" yep- thats why i got mine!
BUT i draw a line that i wont cross with regards racing/keeping up etc. i appreciate its a very grey line and other people may seem to a bit a bit over my line but hey! its my line and its grey anyway so who am i to comment! UNLESS i am 110% sure that my line has been crossed and left far behind, then i will comment and did!
you seem to be in the same ball park as me for lines yet the post i commented on was surley in a different one altogether?

Agree and Agree ( Again ! )
I fully understand, why you commented on that post after reading it over again...
Seeking thrills from racing on public roads is not right - Although I can see why people do it, it is not big, safe or clever..
Peoples lines to cross vary as do peoples opinions !
I only hope that no one comes to harm entering into these activities on the public rd.
Regards,
Paul
ps: Thank you for an intelligent opinion on an otherwise pretty mundane / hungover thurs morning ! It make a change to discuss, as opposed to argue ones sometimes ( not us ) headstrong feelings !

**** did you do that as well - I never... are you sure it was the M9 - they are pretty quick you know !
And no it doesn't count as you probably got him up at the last minute and then had a go at him for trying to get past on the stairs - " Not the time or the place son "... There is a line you know!
He ha LOL !

Porsche GT3
My friend was in the Porsche and I was following behind in my newly acquired MY01. He created enough space between the two of us to start me on the upgrade path. Mind you he was also sufficiently impressed to look into buying one as an everyday car.

When I was 17 (still at school) I did actually race an A10 ... Unfortunately I was in a Cessna 152 and he left me for dead
vs
Later on at univeristy I raced several F3 Tornados but was again left for dead 'cos I was only in a Bulldog ..
vs
Ahhhh them were the days

cc - fair comment, but I did say that I didn't get into 4th & he would have pulled in every gear from me, 2nd & 3rd not much in it...I am pushing out 278 bhp @ flywheel, 245 llb's @ 1400kg's can't be that much difference to 400bhp @ 2100kg's.
Unfortunatly I got mine "superchipped" which is good, but the power curve is not good from low down, so @ 2-3000rpm I'm only pushing out 140 bhp (my printout's @ home so can't quite remember).
I reckon if I had gone the Link route (good advice came too late for me) that I would have had more power low down as well which would make a lot of difference.
edited to say "be gentle now, 12.5 to 100 is a gues-timation
"
My motor must be good for a 12.5 second to 100 ?? standard they are 14.5 arn't they ?
