Similar theme but fastest car you have ever tried to keep up with only to see it disapper into the distance. In my new WRX nothing so far but made the mistake of trying to keep up with an M3...I was in a V6 Mondeo...makes you realise there are quick cars and really quick cars....

Didn't happen to me, but as a kid (13)I once watched an RS200 crucify an RS500 down the local bypass. The RS200 came off a roundabout 50 metres behind the RS500, and absolutely creamed him. The RS200 came past my dad's car doing about 130-140mph , by which time the RS500 had had enough. Sorry its about found on roadsides dead.

believe it or not - it was a Scooby. Followed one round Loch Lomond road (very twisty). Kept up no bother then we hit a straight bit & he warped off into the distance. Was dusk so could not make out what kind of scoob it was. I was in a uk MY97.

Skyline R33.
Pulled away from me like I was standing still when in my UK car.

Fireblade - went past me doing a wheelie and gave me the birdy - quite funny really - std STI.

Dingys Escort takes something special to keep up with it once it's above 60mph.

TVR Chimera on a long dual carriageway (70 limit) with traffic lights. Overtook me on the inside after I had passed a slower car. I was booting it from about 65mph in third as I saw him getting closer in rear view mirror, let him go as getting up to highly illegal speeds (road was deserted though ). Caught him at the traffic lights and hey presto, almighty traction of the Impreza kept up with him upto about 70. After that he just blew me away. He had a dog on the front seat. Bet he had to scrape the doggy mess off the seat when he got to his destination

Coming back from Le Mans last year gunning the father-in-laws hand build MG roadster with, get this, a hand built de tuned Rover SD1 BTCC V8. Car puts out over 250bhp and goes like stink (we're talking TVR Chimaera performance) from a car that was cool in the 60's and weighs nothing. Anyway, he tells me, "go on son, see what she'll do" so I open her up to about 130mph (french roads remember). Next thing I see is a bank of full beams getting bigger in my rear view mirror real quick. So I squeeze the load pedal a bit more,145 shows on the speedo and then it happens.
First, a banana yellow Callaway Corvette screams past (8 tailpipes) closely followed by a Viper GTS (the ground shook), a 550 Maranello, 360 Modena and up their ***** a Porsche GT3. All the above mentioned appeared (judging by our own rapid progress) to be doing in excess of 175mph.
Awesome.

PS. And yes they were all having a *** break when we eventually caught up with them at the toll!!

JAG XJ220, kept with him for about 6miles of very twisty, narrow road. His left mirror was in the hedge and his right wheels were over the line. V happy with my self until we reached the dual carrigeway. He just flashed his hazzards once and vanished. I've never seen anything go soooooooooo fast, ever.

One of my most memorable ones was in Luxembourg last year. There's this tunnel but not with normal tunnel lighting, it had like lit up cats eyes in it, something you're more likely to see in GT3, awseome tunnel. Anyway, a bunch of us were giving it a bit in our Rover turbos getting some nice induction whistle and DV sounds going when a black scoob pulls in behind one of the German blokes with us. When he pulls over the scoob gave it full beans and rocketed off like nothing else. Not only that, but the sound was amasing, it sounded like it had no exhaust on at all, it just went ...

Talking

911 Turbo 4 (993). Pulled up next to me at the M1/A45 junction, big grin on his face (should have known) both nailed it, never saw him again. By the time I got to the first roundabout he was gone!

Suprised an XKR the other day, nothing in it at all. Heh heh..

Nat - Me too,

Driving from Epsom in SY over the back of Box Hill in my Dads MGF VVC, which he had just got ( I was driving ) .. If anyone knows the road its pretty fast with some nice bends that you can see across .. Anyhow was doing a fair old lick, and getting in the swing of things, when on a straight I came up behing a black, with black wheels Tuscan - looked over at father and put my foot down and went past him at about 80mph.. Now I don't know if i pissed him off ( !!! ) but on the next corner he left the bracking very late and got right up my ****... Anyhow to cut a long story short, he overtook me on the outside of a long sweeping bend ( yes outside ) at about 70mph, to then rocket off into the distance not to be seen again ... Not only did he pull away from 70ish like I was at the side of the road , but to have the ***** and road handling to overtake me as he did.. JEEZUZ !

Just as a quick aside to the Merc Sprinter comments on page one. Mercedes have had to limit the top speed of those things, on the test track they are capable of over 115mph. But of those on sale none will go over 100mph due to a limiter.

Had a race with a 911 turbo, lucky for me we were both slowing down for lights on the A127 so i was rolling so like him, the scooby i feel is better when rolling for a quick start, lights changed and i lost him ( well for a bit) then he went passed but not easy. He slowed down and wound the window down to say Sh*t thoes things are quick. Put a smile on my face.

There are alot of faster cars out there more than i thought.

My mate in a 280 break GTiR got wooped coming off a roundabout in the dry against a Sierra Cossie. He said they were both in second going round, then both nailed it up the dual carriage way. The Cossie's back end snaked about in 2nd and 3rd and left him. Must have been tuned lots.

I'm not an RS owner or anything and he hates Fords so this aint biased. It was just f*cking fast.

When I had my Saxo VTS (before my MY99 Turbo), I had a race with a 97 WRX on the A414 ... I took the short way round the roundabout onto the dual carriageway, then he screamed past me as did a P1 on the same stretch of road. Quick

Different now the boot's on the other foot!!
