Those types of high challenges unfortunately happen week in week out, he was unlucky, he has even said that himself. Surely it can just be left at that, there is no need to vilify Taylor as I am sure he feels bad about this. He is hardly a dirty player with only 3 yellow cards in his last 74 appearances and only 1 red in 8 and a half years prior to Saturday.

One more thing, it's not as if Eduardo has never made a high challenge...

Well it looks like good news for Eduardo

The Club can confirm that following the incident during Saturday’s match at Birmingham City, Eduardo has fractured his left fibula and sustained an open dislocation of his ankle joint in the same leg.

He was immediately taken to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham where he underwent surgery on Saturday evening. The operation was successful and Eduardo was transferred to a London-based hospital on Sunday afternoon.

Earlier today (Monday 25th February), the Orthopaedic surgeon and Arsenal medical staff assessed the extent of the damage and possible time scale for a full recovery.

All being well, Eduardo will have his leg in plaster and using crutches for the next six to eight weeks. After that time, partial weight-bearing exercises will be scheduled into a slow rehabilitation process.

It is hoped that Eduardo will be running again in six months time and making a full recovery after nine months.

Eduardo will be released from hospital in a few days.

The Arsenal medical team would like to take this opportunity to thank Birmingham City FC for their assistance on the day as well as the surgical and ward staff on S2 at Selly Oak Hospital for their expert medical care.

In addition, and on behalf of Eduardo, the Club would like to thank everyone for their many touching messages of support.

It's a long time rehabilitation but it's looking good

Quick Q - do Arsenal or whoever i assume they have medical insurance with pick that cost up as he is a non UK national? I presume the NHS isn't paying for that reason.

Yes I play football every week & hopefully I never meet you at a game.
I think Mr Makelele very effectively proved the point of both myself and STi today, but with two significant differences

1/ Makelele's didn't even attempt to go for the ball

2/ the ref never even blew for a foul

The standard of the reffing was appalling there yesterday and if it had been anybody other than Lamplard I'd have agreed with you Richie

In reality both him and Boa Morte should have just been given yellows for bringing their handbags onto the field of play

i know its off topic but if you like or dislike Frank Lampard if you see what happen you will see he never punched him so the Lineman is either blind or lying.

I agree he didn't punch Boa Morte, but he did give hime two good digs with his boots whilst getting up, like I said before, IMO they should both have got yellows for behaving like spoilt petulant kids

Mascherano (sp) gets nothing and Alliadiare gets a 4 match ban!

I know Great isn't it

Alliadiere was continuing Boro's long and honourable tradition of having a man sent off at Anfield for dubious reasons though

In fact I can barely remember the last time they finished a match there with 11 players still on the pitch

there was a tackle by Senderos on the Osbourne which was very similar to the Eduardo tackle but in this instance nothing came of it... it's a split second thing between it been pretty much nothing or something far more serious.

They should have left it in place as a signal reminder to others that handbags have no place on a football pitch

Anybody see the Bardsley tackle against Everton yesterday? Easily as bad a tackle but luckily the damage was not as severe.
