Wide arch, 400+bhp Newage rebuild...For the road :)
However, as I am going blow through MAF, I wanted to create as long as possible a piece of pipework for the MAF element, which is also circa 80mm in diameter, which is why I have chosen this route.

It would not be possible to do such a thing with a reversed inlet due to space between the engine/radiators..
A quick shot of the oil cooler now it's sealed..

Turbo water pipe fitted, EGT sensor fited..

Bit of thermosleeve for the water pipe..

45 degree pipe arrived today, fits perfect (after chopping the ali pipework down

I got similar hose to that for my front mount as the kit i got did not fit very well and i never wanted to get another set of hard pipes. Seeing as i work in the dust extraction industry i made the most of it and got some hose from work
The hose i got will handle 10 bar and like yours has wire through it and your right it is hard to crush in anyway. It also is very heat resistant too .
Nice project mate

Awesome job, turned around in quick time for me..

Awesome job, turned around in quick time for me..
Indeed, I am both looking forward to getting the thing on the road, and dreading it...
Now, I can't remember the exact wording, but there is a saying that goes something like, a tidy office/desk means a tidy mind..
Well here is my mind at the moment...

Not tidy, and more like a bomb site, which kinda relates to my mind right now..
Anyway, recent progress is oil pipework..
Out of the take off point and through the samco tunnel in the fornt cross member..

Another view around the steering rack..

And onto the oil cooler..

Pipework now surrounded by some thermal sleeving, and fixed up against the cross member to give clearance for the steering.
Another job off the 'LIST'...
More to come soon..

Mini project..Alternator..
One thing I hate when I see under the bonnet of Impreza's is a dirty scruffy Alti, so I thought I'd have a go at a bit of bufty on one..
One dirty alti..

Split it and bought some glass bead for my blaster, and ended up with these..

Re-assembled with re-plated bolts/pulley..

Good as new, for a fraction of the cost.
I have done the same with the starter motor, power steering pump and air-con pump.

Exhaust...
OK, I have a 3" system, but when on it looks like this...

Which is not good because:
a) it looks gash,
b) it hangs too low, and would drive me mad with it catching all the time..
So I needed something which was a bit more subtle, and tight fitting.
Enter stage left a Fujitsibo rear section..

And a few mods to the pipework..

The pipe is now welded up, and it just needs polishing now to match the rest.
I also may replace the tailpipe with a Prodrive item.
Quite subtle, and a lot neater than the original system.
