Hillclimbing, the 2007 Season Project.
I went up to Loton today and enjoyed the glorious sunshine, soul destroying not being able to race!
Dad took the win from Pete with a 57.15, Pete's clutch is knackered and slipping up the straight seeing him run over a second slower than usual, those evo's and their clutches...
Took some rather ropey but interesting videos, worth a look for the sound of the Quattro alone.

No sunday is classics only mate, I get my post quite late aswell as it is redirected so you should have had yours by now, I'd give MAC a buzz to see whats happening.
Not the best of weekends for me, I had swapped my front slick tyres around with the backs because they really are near the limit and my car is easy wearing on back tyres and very heavy on the fronts! I knew it was not going to be good but i was very shocked at just how bad it made the car handle, i had to hold back on every corner exit due to massive oversteer. I tried everything on the suspension settings, scrubbed the tyres down, it made no difference. So it was put up or shut up, first competitive run i decided to push and let the car move around at the back another bad idea as the video will show! then up cedar straight the clutch starts to slip and got worse through the day, tried some pedal adjustment at the end of the sat meet, made no difference for todays drive so i had to pack away the evo and jump in the olds man Audi
Now that was fun so agressive and hard to drive you really have to bully the car or it bullys you! only got one run due to a big black cloud opening up over us and i didnt want to prang the car in the slippy conditions!
Not the best weekend but the drive in the audi made up for it, more money to be spent, I really could do with a sponsor!!!!

Great job today by the way graham, you could tell it was being run by a driver.

Thanks for the kind words Pete.
Seemed a very strange meeting to me tbh, never have liked being the Paddock Marshal!
Discussed that clutch this evening with someone who knows so to speak, but I'm not sure about it.
That adjustment is a bit wierd?
Seems the brakes are fooked on the 911 today!
Some garage evenings ahead as I hope it is Shelsley for me next sunday in the old girl.
'Gracefully acending the hill' comes to mind....

Good to see you both yesterday.
Great day for me with personal best time of 62.46 - still more to come from the car me thinks.
I have some short vids (not great quality) and pictures from yesterday and will post in Members Gallery

Seen the car etc before.
It was going to do that this year Rob apparently.
Looked pretty in the paddock!
Richard won his class with a PB too so well done to him, he is too modest to tell us!
The real Cossie racer of Dave Parr dominated the class just as Roy has done in recent years when it ran about 400 bhp. You now need about 1.5 times that to stand a chance!
I'm in at the Shelsley Classic with a few other 911's in a huge class of sports cars. Just need some brakes first....busy in the Loaksey garage tonight with the wife.

Brit: Nope! no pm's at all!!
There is a twist to the test day. Will send you the details of what is the current thinking.
911 brakes all done now, and got done for speeding tonight road testing them......I get all the luck.
Graham.

Shelsley B meet tomorrow, it looks pretty grim at them moment but the forecast for worcester reads...

So there is some hope yet.
I will be dual driving my car with Pete as his clutch is knackered, should be an interesting battle, it might push him over the edge and into Impreza ownership if his last test drive is anything to go by, our main task is to try and stay ahead of my dad who will be flying in the audi no doubt.
Haven't raced for what seems like an age, and even then it was a wash out so really looking forward to driving again, see if my new tighter diff can stop me dropping so much time in the esses through inside wheel spin.
Videos, pics and excuses tomorrow.

You could be lucky with the rain Rob, but that track will be saturated, and the esses WILL be lethal. Take care!
I'm there sunday in the Old Dear and at Prodrive tomorrow picking up my fully works prepared special, all 890Kg, 2.5 litre with an easy 670 x 800 engine...and also going to the Charity day with Kristie in the other Oh Dear!
Bloody cars.

If Pete fancies an Impreza I may sell mine. It'll have a built 2.5 in, so ripe for some reasonable power!!
I won't be doing any events this year, health is too bad. Was in hospital week before last for a lumbar puncture, the result of which was the worst head pain I have ever experienced (and I should know!!) for the following week. It's easing off now, which means I can actually get out of bed and move about, last week I had to stay horizontal. It's still worse than before I went in but they've given me some drugs which should take effect in about 5 weeks so fingers crossed.
Hope to see you guys soon
cheers

It was an excellent sunny days racing and by mid morning the track was bone dry, I selected 2 later practice batches to take advantage of that fact.
It's the first time really driving in anger in the dry with the new tweeks and I'm over the moon, the tighter rear diff is just awesome and propells you forward with a touch of oversteer where it used to spin up and cost me precious time inthe tighter stuff, the lag is greatly reduced due to Paul's ideas and the brakes are imuch better, the car feels so well rounded now and has some real quick times in it if I can do my bit.
First competetive Run I posted a 30.63 with a mind bending 1.79 launch time, 2 tenths slower than my fastest practice of 30.43 due to coming in a bit hot to crossing and having to back off it still put me 1st in class just 2 100ths of a second faster than my dad on 30.65.
Second run I launched in 1.80 got crossing just right despite some oversteer under power on the exit (just for the crowds, honest) I posted my fastest ever ess approach of 98mph and got a PB of 30.37, dad went slower in 31.00 and I took the class win. I'm over the moon with the time of 30.37 but I know the car has a 29 in it, watching the video back I scrubbed too much speed off into the top ess not sure if that would have got me 0.38 of a second but it would have helped.
Pete dual drove dad's car to 3rd place with 31.44 and then.... 31.44 and tied with Mike hall on 31.44, bizarre. Mike was crossing the finish line at a crazy 109mph in his morgan, 6 mph up on me I couldn't match the 104mph of last visit and got 103mph every run.
So apart from the finish speed PB's all round 1.79 launch, 98 ess approach, 30.37 time.
A great day's racing and I'm well happy with the car now it feels finished and I'm looking forward to just getting stuck into the hills for the rest of the season.
Video of my final run.
