By 'cleaning up' do you mean deleting everything, as you've just done? Actions like that deserve some explanation. Such as why, and what measures were taken before resorting to the axe. It smacks of political censorship. Will immigrant employment/unemployment threads go the same way? Or gays on IVF? Where does it stop?

there are not multiple threads a day about IVF, gays or unemployment for a start. So a little bit of sense is required when deleting the threads would be in order. You only have to read these threads mentioned above, the worst you get in there is the trolls. no real hatred going on.

Then we come to the RACE and RELIGION threads, people like Rabid posting, this was causing major issues, issues that just should not be associated with a car disscussion forum FFS. These threads should be erased, and the reason for which is simple, they are causing un due harrasment for the majority of members. Most of which will not post, but might i suggest, many will consider leaving, going to other sites such as .org...... SN has far to many people that have little or zero interest in motors, may i suggest this, f*** off back to where ever it is you came from, because many of which dont, havent and are never likely to own a subaru, they are coming on here to read threads like the crap posted over the last few weeks and TBH, its pathetic

I agree that some of the religious/race/terrorist threads have got a bit out of hand lately, but no more so than many, many other threads on such vital issues as 'Scoobs vs Evos' and 'I don't believe your dyno figures'.

These threads never turn into race hate threads and all usualy settles down with in a day or so, they hardly ever turn into multiple threads over the corse of a few weeks. When they do get out of hand, they quite often end up deleted, i know, i have been involved in a few before

The fact that most seem unable to spell adds weight to that theory........

Thanks Sammy Who'd be a Mod, eh?

I'm sure things will calm down now, so please don't start a Politics forum just yet. And frankly I'm not that interested in politics generally, but Topical Affairs, yes. Aren't we all?

Cheers,

Richard.

John, ScoobyNet hasn't been a purely car forum for many years as you must know. And that, for many, is its appeal. I still have a Scoob, but I don't visit the technical forums so much now because it always ends up costing me money and I've spent way too much already. I still keep an eye on stuff, though

Take away the non-Scooby owners and the membership would plummet. We'd lose a lot of good contributors, too. There are a very large number of ex-Scooby owners who still hang around here because they like the community. That's a fact.

From Sammy's comments, I think ScoobyNet will get it right. I was just worried for a minute that just because things get heating in a political hot-potato kind of way, the threads were going to get vaped.

One of the things I value most of all about ScoobyNet is its open policy on free speech and the generally very refreshing non-PC nature of many posters. All too rare these days.

Long may it thrive.

Richard.

Those of us of a certain age don't mind feeling stupid

Remembered now and seem to recall we had this some time back. No one will actually bother to use it though....... Sadly the NSR forum has become the default for bored schoolboys with brains uncluttered by knowledge....... dl

Lighten up Dave And isn't there a contradiction in your post? Doesn't stupid = brains uncluttered by knowledge?

And I might also point out that your are posting in NSR

Richard.

PS BTW, agree on your opening line.

dont get me wrong, if i was here purely for the car crack, i would never have seen this post.

i wasnt in anyway arguing with you either. Im sipmly stating that these threads need to be deleted as this is a car forum primarily (sp)and from that comes a community, of past, present and future owners of subarus.

its the people joining up and stirring the evergroing problem in this country of racial hate, whether those be black or white, it doesnt matter, it has no place on this BBS and it never should either

If there is real evidence that ScoobyNet is attracting newbies with a purely political agenda then, I agree, we have a problem. I tend to assume that most newbies are actually oldies who, for whatever reason, wish to post on certain subjects under a different username. I think that's okay(ish). If I'm wrong, Webby will know and, on past record, will act accordingly. There is a lot of assumption about who is actually behind these new usernames - I was accused of being Snug Rhino the other day

Then again, the likes of 'moses' have been around a long time. And there's our resident stirrer, pslewis, not to mention a whole raft of long-term members who contribute 90% positively but occasionally get drawn into 'difficult' areas. I guess that probably includes me

If it was purely a car forum why not remove NSR altogether? If it was purely Subaru talk, why have the other marques section? Vape them both.

I love cars.I happen to like all cars/talk about them though. Also I also see nothing wrong with people discussing current affairs of which religion etc is a huge part.Coupled with the fact there are some very decent posters whose stuff I enjoy reading.

Surely Scooby people don't wake up and think 'scooby',have lunch and think 'scooby',bonk the wife and think 'scooby scooby scooby'?

I credit Scoobynet with having some intelligent people that don't just dream of Gold wheels and stickers.Otherwise you would be a nutter and should be banned
