Default Speed hump damage to car

Came back off holiday last year to find a new set of speed humps installed half a mile from my road Was not a problem, except one which whatever speed I went over it would catch my exhaust. Finally wore a hole in my exhaust so went to complain at the local council offices to which they said A the hump was not illegal, and B I was travelling over it too fast and C it was not their problem.
Forgot all about it until recenty a retired engineer proved that the speed hump was over 10cm and it was lowered

Just wondering who I would go to ,to put in a claim.

Alternatively you could type the destination in to your satnav?

Check out (or get in touch with) the ABD!

Oh, and i think that 10cm is the MAXIMUM, and it is recommended that they are no more than 8cm in height!

Hope you took photos of the damage.
Plus, thought I'd get you out of the void created by the dismissed posts.

This happened a few years ago to me when I owned my celica gt. The front of the car was damaged as a result of going 3mph over a particular set of speed bumps in my home town (gamble ave for us locals)...
I wrote to the council (highways department) and informed them I would be sending them the bill for the repairs.
They wrote back very quickly to say that the speed bumps conformed to eu legislation and I could whistle for my cash.
So I went to the council and impersonated Roger Whittaker for an hour and got my money (OK that bits a fib)...
So why not write to the council but expect nothing but a patronising response from them The gits....

Contact your local council dept. for an insurance claim form, fill it in, add dates, measurements, photo's, witness statement, expert statement and return it...............

Within 30 days you should receive a reply telling you to '**** Off' once you have this tell them you are taking the case to small claims court.......

Judge Judy rocks and will award you and your AFRO-AMERICAN friends $5000 Dollars for you to spend repairing your oldsmobile...................
