Hmmm, I don't think it would fare too well against my humble classic!

Or, since we're talking about a modified Audi, a similarly modified new age scooby either! It'll also be as heavy- if not heavier- than a new age Sti IMHO.

Sounds a good idea, but the FR (presume thats what you mean?) will prob drop in price like a stone on the arrival of the new Cupra R... Im not sure about the looks either (New R looks nice though )

True, but imagine how the old Leon Cupra R is going to fare when the new one comes out!

Thats what I wasnt too sure about, certainly other VAG models hold onto their money, but not sure about the Leon, maybe not much will happen till the new Cupra R (released later this year?) gets towards a year old and hits the 2nd hand car market...

Not sure though, and thats the whole reason for considering the Golf...

I think if you spent £15k on a old shape Leon you'd lose a packet in the short to medium term.

I think the main stumbling block for the new Leon is that it feels pretty cheap inside. I suppose it it almost £5k cheaper than the Golf GTi you could forgive it a few little things

Ive just returned from test driving a Gti, was very impressed with the handling..

I wasnt particularly familar with the road we were on and was going
perhaps a little quick around what seemed to be an evertightening
corner, no problems in the Golf though.. It loved the backroads we
were on.

Picked up nicely too, a bit of lag, but thats to be expected... Soon got
itself round to 120 xxph, on a relatively short stretch.

Interior/seats were good too, the particular car had leather, but no other
extras.. could maybe do with Sat-Nav which would improve the looks.

I was surprised to see that the DSG version is quicker to 60, and more
fuel efficient... But I diddnt know that some of them dont have paddles, so
I think I'll just be on the lookout for a manual.

Now I just need to find one in my price range
