Like most, I've been asking the question to myself over the last few days too. Some of the stories you hear on the news are indeed, sickening.
I was stabbed in '92 on the palm of my hand - I interevened in a domestic outside a club and the bloke turned on me (he went to stab me in the face but I managed to get to protect it with my hand).
Until I became a father, I would have intervened without hesitation. However, now I would think twice as I have a family to look after. I would, however, report it immediately to the police.
I still consider that this country is becoming what it is because we are too soft on criminals - they know the law is on their side and it doesn't frighten them. Until we start to wise up and make punishments more severe, it will get worse.

I have the advantage (or disadvantage) to need an armcrutch for walking. Depending on the numbers involved or whether I can get the first shot in, I would have no hesitation in changing the shape of the attacker's face permanently!

alot more than 50 people got stabbed I reckon. Got a couple friends that got stabbed, and they didnt go police after, and some didnt even bother going to the hospital.
If I saw it happening I would only help if the odds of me not getting stabbed are high ie, theres only one of them and theres a brick or plank of wood nearby.

This reminds me of a time me, my bf and his best friend was out one night and they went to the aid of helping some guy that was laying in the middle of the A6 that had been given a right kicking. They picked him up and as soon as they tried to move him loads of chavs came running out of no where and attacked my bf and his friend for trying to help him!! After a few punches and a lot of girls trying to split this fight up we managed to get away, one of my most scariest nights of my life!! We'd never help anyone again as horrible as that sounds to say!!
