If you really want to get waved at, go to southern half of France. Scooby's are like rocking horse droppings, so all the kev wannabe's wave like loon's or you get the full "We're not wothy" a la Waynes World
. French scooby drivers almost always wave, I've even been ambushed in an car park in La Rochelle by a white blobeye stealth wagon owner, who'd waited 20 mins for me to come back to my car. The Guernsey registration helps, confuses the $%*^ out of em.
Oh, and NOBODY in Guernsey does the scooby wave, except people you know or the occasional Brit on hols. So if your in France or Guernsey, and see a green Blobeye with Morrettes and a 4 digit plate, wave, it's me.......

He He there's some windup merchants on here!
.
Bugeye owner, almost always wave, except when I don't see ya. Which will probably get worse over the summer as, a) I'm getting older and b) there are too many scantily clad distractions to even think about looking for other scoobs

I am new to the scooby code, i've been waved at twice now and looked like an idiot as i've not waved back, it even happened today. Sorry if you've waved and i've not returned the favour. This was by a classic and new age scoob!! From now on i'm going to make an effort. I'm a classic driver soon to be wagon driver.

I have to admit i prefer to flash
Extensive research by subaru UK has found that the acknowledgement phenomenon by scooby owners is enjoyed most by the classic owners as new revision models attract an older audience with much slower reactions and of course they don't want to knock their colostomy bag.

i find that more classic scooby owners wave as they are aware of what they are driving. some newage drivers dont understand what they are driving having bought the car to a car allowance or budget and havent been informed that it is the done thing to wave or flash (or both
)
I wave all the time and even flash aswell - probably get a repsonse 75% of the time around here but that drops to 1 in 4 down south - i think they are miserable down there
classics wave the most wherever you are though.
btw i drive an 06 (the ugly duckling of the family as some say)

Spread the word,
Flick the Bird!!
Only jokin!!
One thing to watch for is flashin at a junction, it had impact repercussions for a friend of mine when we all had mini's.
Flash flash ............bang
What did you pull out for?
Well you fcukin flashed!!!

MESSAGE TO ALL SCOOBY DEALERSHIPS!!!!!!!

:l uxhello:
Instruct all new buyers and new comers to scoobyworld to wave as part of the" condition of sale"

I used to wave at scooby drivers but feel an idiot when they look at you funny! I pretend I don't see any scoobs now and keep looking the other way.
I've now started talking to cows. I get a better repsonse and don't feel silly.

Mines a classic and I'll wave to any scoob, also give a respectful nod to the evos, and just about always get a grin wave or a flash back, the ones that don't, tend to be um... older drivers in newage, and I don't think it's got owt to do with arrogance, probably more that they just haven't clicked yet that they're SUPPOSED to wave. It's the law you know
i dunno. being still quite young and having an 06, i personally reckon its the fact that the new age cars are so much more advanced, quicker, better looking and classier - we just dont get the chance to see the older, slower, 20thC bangers that have the time to wave to us??
I wave to other "proper" scoobs .... wouldn't stoop to waving at Sports though, they are usually either members of the National Trust over 65 and can't see past the end of the bonnet, farmers with a boot load of chickens or sad types who can't afford the insurance on the real thing ;-)
The worrying thing is the only people who wave at me are sport owners.

In our area i.e. in North Wales,There are too many scoobs these days. There is no point expecting waves.I don't feel special anymore at all.Even kids don't look twice at the car, never mind another scooby paying any attention!

I went from owning an elise where everyone waved/flashed each other everytime to a beemer where people just looked blankly at me when I waved or nodded to another M3, so for the past two and a bit years I've had it beaten out of me not to be nice so I am very pleased to find that now being the proud owner of a new shape WRX that the subaru bunch are just as friendly as the old lotus crowd.
Forgive me if I don't wave, sometimes I just nod in appreciation as usually I'm concentrating on changing up at full chat on my way into 3 figures

Since this thread started I have been making a note of the waves I get in return and I have to admit that there has been very few either from Classics or New Age drivers.
Even today with the sun out you'd think drivers would be in the mood for a bit of fun. But, on M27 I pull up alongside a silver classic STi look over and wave but no acknowledgment whatsoever. Perhaps he was being safety conscious and did not want to take his hands off the wheel or eyes from the road ahead.
Will be back out tomorrow in Hants and waving at all sorts of Scoobies.
Nick
