New age owner and waver,flasher,thumber upper.its the young ones who dont wave(agree tony burns)

 

I always try to wave back, but sometimes it takes a bit of time for my brain to kick in and register another scoobie and by that time 2 scoobies going in opposite directions,... well nuff said. (0-60 in 2.4s lol).

LOL. No.... What I mean't is if both cars are accellerating in opposite directions in a time of (0-60 in 4.8 seconds), which is allegedly what my car does, then the effect will be a combined accelleration of 2.4 (which is too quick sometimes) as I'm concentrating on not hitting the car in front.

Why do you ask if I'm married? Are you offering LOL.

 

So in theory, it's possible that within 2.4 seconds we are approaching each other at 120mph!!!! Quite scarey really. Try waving to someone at that speed and see if they notice. LOL

I own a bugeye and wave at every scoob I see. Classics, WR1s. Some wave, some don't.

Does it **** me off that they don't wave back? Well, the fact that they probably don't know who the f**k I am anyway then no!

wave at everyone (classic or newage), number of returns is getting lower though, especially amongst new agers. and even more so newage STi, but then that's probably because I have a humble WRX

 

Is it that they just don't return a wave (even if stood next to you) or is it that thye just don't notice. I have a feeling that it's the latter as there have been times where I have heard a horn or seen a scooby but just not realised until it was too late and I have then wondered if they think I was being arrogant. To everyone, I always wave or beep my horn so long as I see you in time. There have however been many occasions where It was simply to late to do it without looking like a prat. I really think that 99% of people still wave or beep if they could.

 

quite possibly, don't know, have noticed over the past few months that people wave less, could be entirely coincidental

 

Most of the Scooby drivers I see, don't even look in my direction, let alone wave - doesn't matter what model. It doesn't worry me. After 12 years of ownership and 7 Imprezas, those days are long gone. I will wave if someone shows their interested in Scoobs - a smile, a nod or a wave.

well as we're all in a generalising mood i'll chip in...

I only seem to get waves from Blobeye drivers. Maybe this is because:

1. drivers of Classics can see me through the smoke coming out of their engines;
2. drivers of bugeyes are too embarrassed to be seen driving them by others;
3. Wagon drivers are obviously too worried about the Grim Reaper standing behind their left shoulder looking at his watch;
4. anyone without a turbo is going to slow to see me;

Right i think that's most groups offended... let me know if I've missed anyone.??

I posted a thread on this acknowledgement thing before. Nothing worse than being ignored! I`m a new age owner and respect any age Scooby or Evo for that matter!

 

sad but true most scoob owners don't wave back but not me im, a new age driver and a WAVER

 

believe it or not there are quite a few scoob company cars out there,( mainly new age but still some bugeyes)doctors, bankers etc, even coppers! so suited probably means company car , thats my theory why they look at you strange!
but i have noticed scoob wavers of all classes seems to be diminishing!
c,mon guys ressurect this tradition.
must admit most WYIOC newage owners do seem a bit up themselves!

Bit of a sweeping statement mate. I own a blobeye and I always wave. In fact its very annoying when im in the VW and I can't be recognised to wave.

If I remember rightly you have a sport not a turbo. The first thing I notice if a scoob is approaching is the bonnet scoop , maybe people see you too late because no scoop?

 

'Blobeye' wagon owner. Wear a suit on work days. Payed for the car myself.

Bugeyes are too ugly to wave at.
New shapes look like an ugly Seat so don't wave at them.
Classics these days are mostly chavved up and look like Corsas of a similar age. Wave at normal ones - sometimes. If the driver isn't wearing a baseball cap.
Anything with a spoiler that sticks up more than a couple of inches gets ignored.
Sunstrips with 'Alpine', 'Demon Tweeks', 'Max Power', anything really, all get ignored. Fully stickered up rally wannabe - those too.
Anything with gold wheels gets the finger. Sorry. No I'm not. It's wrong. It's not big, or clever. There's no excuse.
Oh, nearly forgot those Impreza 'sport' things, well, they're not really proper Scoobs are they....all the ugliness and none of the advantages....


Perhaps I don't wave because at my age my eyesight is so bad it's a wonder I'm still on the road and no surprise I can't recognise another Scoob unless it bumps into me from behind. Or perhaps I'm too busy dreaming of owning an Audi to notice what's going on around me.
Checking for bald patches in my mirror maybe....worrying if I've made the right tyre choice or got my pressures right....so, if you see a 'new-age' just give it the winker sign, especially if it's a silver wagon, there's a good chance it'll be me - or a similar miserable smug self-satisfied snobby old git - so you'll probably be spot on.

ps. I apologise if there's anyone I've missed out - I try to be fair and offend everyone. I'm a new-age wagon driver after all. Should have got a Volvo. Or an MPV. Or maybe a 4x4 SUV. No, I'll get a BMW next time. Now that's a proper car. Isn't it?

 

I drive a newage and always give thumbs up or wave to all scoobs, almost always get a wave back. No discrimination here.
