**** happens as they say, but mid season is the pits.
Trust Andy will magic a more robust solution, but did the CWP die due to metal loose in the diff area off the output shaft?

Good luck.

Pity I missed the race John; would have been good to come along and watch. Is there anymore there this season?

Are you sure? It must be a big job sticking all those loose splinters of metal back

Right, gearbox back together, it's now a BlueTac/PPG/Araldite/Quaife Hybrid. Now also using a different Diff Ratio.

Putting GBox back in car tomorrow to go to Golspie this weekend.
I've consulted with Andy.F and with a bit of messing with the AVCR he reckons it's possible to 'tune' the car to make the flimsy drivetrain cope with the most excellent amount of Grunt he has extracted from the car. Lets hope so.

Changed Diff ratio to 3.9 from 4.11. This will suit Golspie better.

?
I thought your box was a ppg dog box! Thus bullet proof to the engine spec (maybe not the driver!), but seriously, i thought he box was a straight-cut dog.

Good luck with it.

Are you a Dad yet?
If it is a boy get him trained asap
If it is a girl get saving NOW.

When either type are 11+ you will assume the roll of 'Sponsor' or 'Entrant', heed my wise experienced words sir!

PPG dog set is still going strong, I killed the front crownwheel and pinion and sheared the dowels in the front quaife.

Still a 'dinky' for the moment. (Dual Income, No Kids Yet). Any time know though.

Quaife are not very robust? I hear of several hill climb cars snapping them, ie Pug 106 (!).

I hear the championship points took a blow yesterday due to a breakage just prior to the timed runs.
Nothing mechanical fortunately

Congratulations

Congrats John. You'll need a wee nippers passenger seat now!

Was going to head up to Golspie at the wk/end till i looked at the map! Didnt realise it was that far up north. Ended up down at crail instead. Not quite as good but dont think i've seen a micra, or FWD for that matter quite as quick as the one that was there. Overall winner infact! (12.1)

Heard on the grapevine that Wight Jr. has got an imp again and saw it in passing.....must be for fun as i dont see him giving up the single seaters. Especially after having had one designed specifically.

Anyway, well done on the sprog and hope the car doesn't suffer any more breakages before the end of the season...

Not too sure. Is he not leading the Nationals?

Dont think this new imp will be a patch on the old one. If it is then it'll probably go to Japan like the last one...It is quite patriotic though...blue with with a scottish flag on the roof.

Sorry this thread has been quiet for a bit, in the intrim period I've (or rather my wife has) had a baby and I've written off the car at the Doune hillclimb.

Flash update though.......

In true racing form, finished re-shelling the car last night at 11pm. Went to Kames today, thought it was all going to be in vain, pissing down all morning, track dried out during the day though and managed to take the class record, car needs some work on the handling and the brakes are shocking, but I'll get those sorted over the next few days, Sprint at Alford next weekend, then a couple of weeks off before TOTB.

Doors Arrived from Andy (Impezaturbs, www.immortalperformance.com, just in time to save the day, (thanks Andy) well impressed, left the front cage out too (time constraints), so car must have been 40Kg lighter, that'll help. Rest of cage will be back in for next week though.
Was thinking of welding in the floor plates and welding the nuts to them, making them captive. Means the cage can be in and out in minutes with a battery rattle gun.

Buzzed the engine by Dog changing into 1st instead of 3rd, exactly the same place I did it last year and killed the original Axis engine, it seems to have survived it this time, plenty of oil pressure, and no strange noises

Used my new heated screen to good effect, paid for itself already, fairly kills the wee Odessy battery if you forget to turn it off, must remember to re-wire it via the ignition switch
