Inside sales for the UK office of a French paper mill.

 

By eck did it pee it down on the way back from Milnrow!! Thought I'd got lost and ended up in a canal instead of the M62!

 

No redundancy for me unfortunately. I've only been there a year and a half, plus I still technically have a job - I just have to commute to Milton Keynes every morning.

Glad we did get plenty of warning though.

 

The Spanish group that took us over already have a place down there. The group was quite happy to keep the two companies trading separately but then they discovered that the lease on our building was up for renewal so they decided the would get rid now and move the business.

The people in Milton Keynes will take on our work if we don't go ourselves.

 

One of our competitors moved from London to somewhere in Austria!

The last UK paper mill in Britain (for a certain "mass produced" type of paper - I won't bore you with the details) shut last week too with the loss of 119 jobs.

The nail in the coffin for the uk paper industry.

 

What will I be like in my kilt in the middle of summer???

m60 was horrendous this morning, a body had been found

the mills are usually sold off as well as they make a tidy profit

A Haulier we used to use in oldham were based at a mill. The company got bought out by someone else, and then shortly after that they went under. Funnily enough the new owner actually owned the mill as well, and he sold it shortly after. He was also a member on the council :

 

right, moff to do a bit of research on laying tarmac and preparing a base etc. thats my next job at home
