what is faster than a 996
#61
TVR cerbera (bye bye in straight line not cross country)
E46 BMW M3 or E39 M5 (identical performance in all areas)
Merc AMG C32 (faster in straight line, much slower point to point)
Audi RS4, (tune it!)

The 996 does it in 11.5 seconds so you should have them. Will also brake and corner much better than the 996. Wont be an every day car though and long motorway journeys are a PITA.

To answer the original question, tune the scoob up without them knowing. Then you wont have to buy anything else and you'll have the stealth factor

Sold the scoob already have an X5 now and for that reason don't think I will ever have another BMW. THe elise is the only car I have ever driven that handles and 'feels' better than a 106 gti but 146bhp just isn't enough might have to get a super charger for it.

My advice Luan buy Evo FQ340, slap a motec or an autronic ecu on it. It already has the necessary exhaust and induction. You'll murder both porsches. Job done

IMO like I said on page 1, even if you have a faster car, unless it out classes the Porsche they will still feel superior.
I have a friend in the city who is into his aston's, porsches, range rovers etc. Even though my scoob was quicker he wouldn't be soon dead in it. I suspect the people you are trying to beat will feel the same.

Obvious. BMW E46 M3 CSL. A lot quicker than the specs suggest and tumbling in price.
As quick, if not quicker in a straight line and astonishing on the twisties or track. ie. GT3 pace.
Plus, they have the prestige/snob value your mates will understand. A future classic!?!

You can pick up a Honda powered S1 Elise for around 18k. 0-100 in 10 seconds. Supercharge it for another 3.5k, 0-100 in 8 seconds
Or an Audi powered Elise, that shouldnt have any trouble keeping up either Theres a 250bhp one for sale for 16k.

'One got a rolex but no diamonds so the other got a rolex with diamonds'
Anything as their huge naff watches will slow them down due to the excess weight.
Diamonds on a mans watch FFS.

Sorry, missed that bit. Ok, how about an early Elise and dropping the Audi or SC Honda engine in. 0-100 sub 10secs! and all for under 18k.

I guess if getting one-up on your buddys is REALLY that important then you'll just to have sell a bit more crack each month/more kebabs in your shop, then get that 996 turbo

Think you should read the thread. I have said that it will probably be an elise and that I don't need to keep up with anyone. I have said that it was just really a discussion to consider any alternatives to the elise. As it happens I will be a dad soon and therefore I decided to stop wasting money on cars and motorbikes and think more about paying for my kids school fees etc.

Evo, simple as. My old 7 FQ300 was only fractionally slower than the porsche turbo i raced once..He put about 4-5 cars on me over a set distance. Get a newer model evo and breath on it slightly and you will be around the 996. Easy.
