The Red Devil
Agreed about the engine bay. My brothers Red Mica engine bay isnt shiny like the rest of the car, more a matt dull finish. Infact your car seriously puts his to shame, and thats after i Meguairs 3 staged it!

Fork off you lot
Some pics (Sorry for quality)
Gearbox in situe

Short block on engine stand ready for the studs then heads

New lateral sump, and if you spy closely, you will see a box that says OS Giken (twin plate clutch)

ARP 11mm head stud kit, studs, washer and nuts plus lube. 1st dollop applied, ready for spreadng

Threads inblock checked for debri, then studs wound in by hand, and then bottomed out with allen key.

Cometic 3 layer gasket, 0.040 thou, from Lateral

Gasket in situe on RH block

Heads ready to remove cams, so that they can be torqued down on the block

Head fully torqued down, using 20, then 40, then 60 then 85 lbtfs, and no backing off.

One head on

Two heads on

Heads need to be painted, and now realised the paint i have used is different to the one on the gearbox
. Its also heat activated, sow whilst it is dry, its not yet cured, and once cured, should look like aluminium. We shall see!

Not in the near future anyway. Its away into the bodyshop this week for a new quarter panel and front valance after the run in with a deer. Will have a couple of months off work around the middle of the year so plan to claim squatters rights in my dads garage and get on with the car. It all comes down to time and money at the end of the day i suppose......
Maybe i should take a little longer and have the engine/box touched (tarted) up and chromed??

Hill climbers in the Midlands don't polish (too much) they drive (slowly according to that John bloke).
How do you lot find the patience to work on the cars for so long?
Graham

Brad/Doug, what you on about?
If your on about me Graham, anyone who knows me, will tell you have absolutely zero patience when working on my own car, which is often compounded by the lack of time to look at it. The job that pays for all this stuff, takes priority.
Progress will be made very soon.

No, just a general 'observation' Steven.
Having the car off the road for even years seems a lot of hassel which would drive me mad on mine as I only have this Impreza to hill climb, and to miss a season would really question why I have it at all.
To justify the cost and time it has to pay back; as a money man I'm sure you understand!
Graham.
