From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?
Steven is expecting nothing, we know what it will do but theres no point pissing people off that like sitting on rollers and being dyno queen's. since I quit my job I have been quite priviledged to work on stevens car, and today I was the party pooper, I treat the car like my own, as does steven with mine, and butt dyno said enough - So I said enough! (He did agree, we have to decide in advance!!) However tomorrow I will film some on road mapping
however next rr session will not be public knowledge.. despite what steven wants, otherwise you feel like you have something to aim for..
conrad, whats the H/Rate?

That was straight optimax with NO NF, or NO Methanol..
Fuel was transported in a methanol drum and in a parts washer fluid drum, if anyone saw the fuel at the clinic in the drums they will notice is wasnt clear like methanol, or blue like my fuel

I don't think i understand this.
The car will do what it does end of story. What's to aim for?
The car will have been specced for a target criteria, so results will be commensurate with the spec, unless there's something amiss which with all the interest on this thread by Scoobynet members, is going to be beneficial in learning the ups and downs at this level.
Don't let everyone have a game of football and take away the ball halfway through the game!
It's not been built to get figures, it's been built to compete.

Having followed your 'project stealth' I'm not sure all the ups and downs were public knowledge
Anyway Steven, never mind aiming for 1000 bhp, been there, done that

Just get on track and beat Marks cars time

10 foot ladder for Alan, quick
I am referring to being selective with what is posted publically, I'm sure you know what I mean, for example you wouldn't go posting your lowest RR power result.
At this level of engine building/tuning there are commercial considerations that could be positive or negative with regard to the outcome.
I agree with david that it is not appropriate to give 'live coverage' of such an event.
Running a 1/4m in xx.xx seconds and then playing guess the bhp is far more fun anyway

Understand what may be meant now since you mentioned commercial considerations. Makes sense.
"for example you wouldn't go posting your lowest RR power result"
The lowest result i've seen for my engine is 410.
It was splattered within a magazine article for commercial reasons..

I am not going to hide anything, i havent yet. Before anyone says anything, the block being built by RCMS was going to be public knowledge, its just someone chose to make it public for me!
Yesterday was very public, it was a normal business day at Scoobyclinic, lots of people in and out. I have a feeling that JAK was one of the 2 lads i was talking to near the dyno as it was going through its first couple of runs, which was well into the 100's atw @ 0psi.
I dont recall not answering one question they asked about the car.
What david posted above, i didnt know about, he only told me this morning
. I can see some sense in what he suggests, and i wouldnt want anyone to feel under pressure.
As Alan rightly says, it will do what it will do. My aim was mid 500's, but i have a gut feeling it may walk that, but, time will tell.
Fuel used was plain old optimax, it may get a bit of a mix once its done some more miles, which wont be for a week or 2 yet.
Gut feeling on the road, was it felt bloody quick, and felt as though it will easily do an 11, but again time will tell.
It will get used on Sunday to 100% of what it is currently set for, which is anywhere between 50% and 75% of the ultimate end figures.
However, the quarter has become my dyno bench, as i know how i can drive, and what i can do with certain setups. Quite funnily for me last night driving home, i realised that the last time the car was on the rollers, was in February 2004, when it was in its 2.0l guise, it made 360bhp ATFW @ Prosport, and back then i had run a 12.1 quarter. Its just made more than that ATW
Going to scan the graphs in now, but please remember, boost is set on a flat duty cycle, as the air injector setup is yet to be configured, and the rev limit is currently set at 7000rpm, although it was only revved to 6600ish on the dyno.
Enjoy, and for those going tomorrow, i hope you enjoy the day.
Steven

Alan,
Havent you changed your turbo since?
Anyway, thats irrelevant.. Im trying to stop Steven wanting to achieve a set figure, I know how he or I could get carried away, there has to be a point where one or more person says enough is enough.
Andy summed it up, 'Live event'... Its the teething issues which can give bad publicity. I will discuss this with Steven and obviously its his car! and his decision, but my suggestion is that he / we take the car to the rollers / stretch of road of his choosing, do some more mapping, then post the results be it good or bad, but not tell people when and where so they can stand on a bridge and film it, or come and spectate (read: hang around all day and get in the way or be bored waiting for something to happen!!)
I'd personally say the car is capable of 560 - 600, however It depends on fuel, budget, family, time etc, so what I dont want to happen for steven is that people assume that its going to make that and then ask questions as to why it didnt after, if that makes sense.. Its in no way like thats the end of the project as I know thats definitely what steven doesnt want, however over the past days I could see with all the interest in the thread it 'encourages' and makes steven even more 'impatient' to get it done, there was nearly a point yesterday where steven fooked off in my car and told me I was driving the scoob home... We had words!
Steven + Car + Engine + £££ + Impatient = BAD
I will do anything I can to stop steven making the mistakes with his car that I did.. If steven had had his way we'd have been running 7500 and 1.5 bar.
I think 450 is a nice figure to run a 'race engine' in at.
Also theres probably only around 2 hrs mapping in the car yet.. Injector Opening times at set fuel pressure and different battery voltages was a bit of an eye opener, and certainly worth doing properly
So please dont think Im pissing on the bonfire or being secretive, its deffo not that way and appologies if it comes across that way! Keyboards are bad things for discussions!!
Alan, you should know from speaking with steven that there are no hidden agendas down here
Andy should vouch for that, I was sending him the same texts as steven was getting (Except Andy was getting them first!! LOL
)
Except I dont think I sent Andy one saying two Number 32 coffee's from the machine please.
Best comment was when Andy (scoobyclinic) said are we allowed to drink these in the car, I said you are now (as they are getting passed through the window)
Anyway, gonna go grab some clothes and drive over to stevens, fit a speedo converter - (Thanks to www.scoobyclinic.co.uk for donating that
) for the STI clocks, and generally check the car over, and more importantly go out in the damn thing
Ive done over 70 miles in it and not move an inch!!
David
I can't think of anything that's not been on the thread Andy unless you know better and i'm opening up a 10 foot hole to fall into!

I stopped David doing certain things to his car through stupidity, and i am glad he has done the same for me.
The results of the next phase will be displayed for all to see, they just wont be advertised in advance for people to come and watch the session.
I have been sent text messages, pm's etc, as to where and when, and i have had to be very careful over what i give away in that area.
Sat in garage just popping the indicators back in, as it was a bit weird driving home without the fronts last night
