Yeah, that is a bit rich, but caused by the Halo effect the CS. He'll be thinking "if non M030 CS's are for sale at 15k, then mine MUST be worth more than that!"

I bet you could buy the other yellow one, and add all new M030 parts for less than that!

Indeed.......its not as though its low low mileage either ! Anyways its worth what people are prepared to pay. Always like the idea of a LHD 968 CS for some reason and although they don't fetch as much as RHD the difference is surprisngly subtle.

Have you still got the 951 Dave ? Thought about getting something else or are you more than happy with it - I see that you've modded it a very sensible/nice way......

Yep, I still have it, and I am still pretty happy with it.

I don't see much that would tempt me out of it (964rs) without costing 3 times what it's worth, but it would never give me 3 times the fun

I was looking for a 964 originally, then after an investigation moved to the 993 and have now decided on a 996 as it appears less dated on the inside than the 993 for an old git like me. This one has certainly tickled my fancy but the price is a little high imho.

I am not a fan of the GT3 kit on anything but a GT3.

I agree that it is in need of some freshening up - ie smoked lenses, 3 spoke wheel. Otherwise looks decent spec (PCM I unfortunately - which by all acounts is crap).

The biggest downside with that car are IMHO 2-fold
1) Its 1998 car - and I wouldn't touch that year on a 996 (RMS issues, and possible porous barrel issues) unless it had a thorough inspection and or came wth an OPC warranty (forget aftermarket warranties)

2) Its from 911Virgin - and whenever I've spoken to them, they have been quite frankly bloody rude and twice now I've taken my business elsewhere. In addition I've seen a 968 they sold 2 years ago - it came complete without a log book which to me is just bizarre (I walked away....)

You do much better at that sort of money getting a 993 IMHO.

Thats a no then

For 30k do you recon a 993 or 996 ? as both are available in that price area and yes I agree the orange lights and wheels are crap.

Well, I think for £30k you should get a very nice 993. If you can forgive it its interior and higher maintenance costs...... it will pay you back with much better residuals long term. The problem is finding a top drawer one these days and believe me a problem 911 will put you off the brand for life !

The quality of the early 996's wasn't at its best and while there a couple of 'issues' with 996's they are generally hassle free. My concern is that at that money your at the bottom 'rung' of the 996 ladder and you might get a used and abused model......... saying that I've just done a search on www.porsche.co.uk and they have a 1998 model with 40k miles for £29995. No doubt some of the cars up £34k may be within reach with good bargaining tactics !

Although the OPC prices are a little rich - you do get 1) 12 months Porsche warranty which is generally very good....2) The cars are impeccably prep'd for sure and 3) They are all subject to an extensive inspection (ie no RMS leaks or engine oil leaks)......

Its a difficult call. For £30k, 12 months ago I'd defo said a 993. Now - I'd be tempted by a 996 from an OPC..... other good places to look at are Charles Ivey, Autobahn and Paragon.

If you want any more info either email me or come over to www.stuttgart9.co.uk there is a wealth of information available from the guys....

Good luck

Buy wisely with that budget and you won't regret it - and start at an OPC first to see what the standard you should be aiming for !
