Yes there are a few good ones about..
Check for crankwalk (crank endfloat needs to be within certain tolerances), check the AYC rear diff operation (drive the car, give it some hardish roundabout work, then in a straight line jerk the steering wheels right sharply) there should be no nasty noises from the rear of the car. Check the AYC fuse is in place (next to the battery) some people have bought cars where the AYC system has been disconnected to cover up dodgy pump switches etc and they've had fuses missing and the dash light for the AYC removed.
Don't worry too much if it sounds tappety at times, it's just the common evo lash adjuster problem (£78 delivered from the states for uprated ones which cure this and can be easily diy fitted)
I have a 'nice one' for sale

A decent 5 is going to be circa £10k, a decent 4 circa £7k
5 has a better engine, then again the 6 has a better engine again..
As for 5 RS, yes great for track work and fun but you'll be looking at.. wind up windows, scotia white only, extremely low top speed and annoying high revs at cruising/motorway speeds, 2 pot brakes, crap non recaro seats, no aircon and climate (inc a dodgy looking dash area with twidly *****) etc
And pretty sure the rear diff isn't easily adjustable is it?

As I said mate, £10k plus for a 5 (looking on autotrader national the cheapest on there is £10995, decent ones on MLR go for £11k plus)
If you can stretch to it I'd look for a 6, but you'll be talking £11k+ for the dregs of the bunch, about £13k+ for a decent one with good mileage)

really like the evo4, alot of the ones that i see are gsr models are these just what they are all called unless it's an rs. I wud prefer the electrics dont fancy window winders. So 7 grand shud get me a good one then, hoping to px mine maybe but maybe hard as its only a uk classic impreza.
