We had the intention of using ours on the road but the insurance quotes came back more than what we paid for the car so we bought a trailer instead. Having the 205 as a dedicated track car means we can do faaar more to it

Scoobynutta555 and Dream Weaver,
My insurance is through maxinsurance (0871 226 2699), which is another trading name of Firebond. I got both the scooby and pug covered for what osbourne and sons wanted for the STi3 as standard!
The pug is on a classic policy, limited milage well 10,000miles, (only down side is not being able to use it for business milage, though commuting is covered).

Osbournes matched NCB for both when I got the scooby and moved both policies at the same time and a number of other companies offer to do that too, but it seems that NCB's don't apply to classic policies, or that's what they told me.
Not withstanding that I suppose I'm still ammassing a second set of NCB should I need it.
Hope that all makes sense!

I have owned a 1.6 GTi and driven Gary's 1.9 around the ring a few times, so I think it's fair to say I can comment, I also have a 172 cup which is even more of an animal.....lol
OOohh pre cat - 130bhp FWD "beast".....lol
Unless we have different meanings of animal, I can't see why you say that.

Cryptic replies.
Please explain yourself......why is an old french FWD car with 130bhp an animal?
Surely an animal is a high powered RWD car with no drivers aids, maybe a 911 GT2?.....and not a hot hatch.
Don't think I am critisising them I am not, but they are not an animal.

Just had a good read of this thread and enjoyed it. Nice to see that the enthusiasm (with some exceptions) for these little pocket rockets seems to grow all the time.
Still one of the most enjoyable drivers cars ever made IMHO.
Am I the only one with a totally standard, untouched car??

I have plenty of footage floating round of me overtaking porkers, scoobs and pretty much everything else you can think off. Not sure I would call mine an animal but good fun and charasmatic for sure.

Yours looks like a nice, original example. Is it 100% stock? Low mileage examples seem to be fetching good money at the moment, and the rarer they get I can only see prices set to rise further.

Nowadays I regret selling my old, red H plater 1.9 in 2000, with only 19000 miles on the clock.

Just a thought guys I would be interested to know if you have any experience of the following.
Would there be any advantage in using a mixture of Petrol / Methanol in my 1.9 engine to make more power / speed gains?
I know some of the Scooby guys use it for drag strip use. is it only good for turbocharged engines with their different compression ratios?
Any info, good or bad would be appreciated just a little something we are thinking of experimenting with.
Thanks,
Ian

Hopefully will be getting a refurbed mi16 alloy engine fitted next week. Will be getting a short shift and 306 brakes too. Was mentioned by the guy doing the work that carbs would be a nice upgrade. I have sourced some second hand ones, the guy wants 350 quid
"Dellorto DHLA 45's on mi16 manifold, complete with fuel pressure reg, hose and pipercross socks".
This a good deal, and will reliability etc suffer?

Hi all,
i had mine for 5 yrs, the longest i ever owned a car, normally change every six months i.e. once i have gone as fast as iam going to. an giving it large normally change. But this baby everyone loved.
Mine was the dogs nuts a Dimma
I bought a donor car i knew from new & stripped & rebuilt it cost a bloody fortune but well worth it. Like scoobys & e** really unique cars.

I cant seem to get 306 brakes anywhere at a decent price. One lot I was looking on Ebay at went for nearly 300 quid delivered, which seems more than I remember when looking before.
Very much a long shot, but I suppose impreza 4 pots wouldn't fit a 205 1.9 with standard wheels offsets etc?
