hi guys, just got a new pc so will not be on tonight, (download all patches and install all games. sorted my af out so putting that on as well, what thoughts on that booster?

 

AF rules... even EF is starting to make sense when mixed with AF IMHO.

 

I'll switch the profile tonight to AF/EF combo (probably around 7-8pm).

If anyone wishes to test stuff out, feel free... if enough people do so - could be game on!

AF / EF maps tonight!

About time I got into this game

 

Connection problems Bt have got my dowload speed up to one meg, was on 2 before adsl max but I can't keep a steady connection to anything

Anyone else running BF2 @ 1600x1200 res? Any recommendations on tweaks?
Bad weekend for me to try my new card - sooo darn hot - seems good - but my wireless died, so had to replace that too, now I've the stuttering issues back on BF2 - think is is down to ping (or could be the beta Nv drivers), but need run some tests.

 

Ps. what did people think of AF/EF last night?

 

absolutely excellent once I got playing. For some reason bf2 decided I had a modifed version, but not until after I had played Road Rage!

I re-installed all the expansion packs and reapplied patch 1.3 full and it was fine then...

Got a glitch with the X-Fi at the moment, every now and then it would suddenly fill my ears with complete rubbish and then work fine again... driver issue I expect (even though I have the latest applied)

Anjijohn (or whatever he was) became my worst enemy as he repeatedly bombed the hell out of me on that twilight map - which REALLY needs more air defense to be balanced correctly - those A10's were able to roam unmolested for the entire game and it made it very hard to achieve anything on that map.

Got a cracking few moments though - like hiding in the tank when 3 snafu guys all landed right in front of me in one of those scout choppers... one shell at point blank range

I was really, genuinely getting worried about DV8 Dave - he always just seemed to appear at the wrong end of whatever weapon I was using at the time, I lost count of the number of times I killed him... there was one occasion in the North Village of that Euro Force map when I killed him and he asked me "How Traveller?" Not quite sure what happened there but I was dancing around a lot of killing several people

Not got my ground defense ribbon (for the second time... DV8Dave helped me get that again...) so it looks like the snafu server is a bit slow updating at the moment.

Overall - I love the new maps. Harvest being my favourite - that farmhouse is a fantastic site to battle over and there's scope for all sorts of tactics on the map. I could play those new maps all the time (except the twilight one )

 

Well, suppose it was time to reg on Scoobynet as I've heard the Bf2 thread is a monster and DrEvil has undoubtedly run my name thru the wringer here...

And from what I know, there's usually several Scooby players on the server...who seem to thoroughly demoralize me with their one-hit kills.

btw: any and all comments from DrEvil regarding moose, log cabins and mounty outfits should be ignored and, quite frankly, reported to your local Canadian Embassy.. he's quite mad you know...

Oh, Lord. I get confused enough on the snafu site... is my confusion going to extend to here as well...?

I've got a theory (ahem) about those one hit kills, and I'm sure it's down to mutual lag. You think you only get hit the once by whatever weapon but you've in fact been caught at least twice, but the lag difference between the clients makes it appear to be instantaneous.

Still a complete pain in the bum tho'.

 

You are right about the one hit kills - sometimes you don't 'see' or 'hear' getting hit, I've had it numerous times in tanks, as have people on the recieving end of me being in a tank

Thought we'd help you out with a full jeep for you to blow up in your first game last night. Give you an easy start. Strange how vulnerable you became when you weren't in the tanbk on Smokescreen

Have to say, last night was a cracking night. Some great Teamspeak teamwork, good commanders and apart from Midnight Sun with Augijon or whatever his name was, maps I was very impressed with. Had a good squad going too.

Was nice to see some decent turnouts. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Apart from when I kept getting beaten to the Gold by the Commander doubling his score...

 

by the way - who was that pr*tt commanding from a tank? and then started kick votes after we voted him out of the commander spot?

 

I am not sure how some of them kills happened - the one in north villages - I was behind you and was shooting you - but you just turned around and got me in one shot - and then it was the same when I was in the tank - one shot boom ---- oh well ---- we all have off days - mine must by an off year

I can assure you that I never once hit you with just one shot - and I know the bit you meant when I turned around. You were stood up and firing from the hip (so to speak) I was lying down and aimed straight at your head. You DID knock me down from full health to half before I shot you.

As to the tank, I always needed more than one shot - apart from a classic I got with the TOW launcher, but I figured you must've been damaged beforehand

Infact midnight sun had to be one of my best rounds ever, was only playing for about half the match, and got bronze

 

Like I said, thouggh we'd give you a head start with 3 SNAFU players in a jeep fo you to take out

Well, barring any support calls, I'm looking forward to tonite's game - mainly cos I have yet to actually *play* more than 1 map of the new AF pack. I think I spent my only gametime on Sunday in a Eurofighter, keeping the skies safe for our Euro team. <curse those damned windmills!>

Hopefully Blunderbus will be about so's I can keep his topgun @rse on the ground.. in rubble..
