This summer I lost 6kg's and went from a 32" waist to a 30" on a diet of around 3000-4000 calories per day and that included chocolate and sugary sweets. Unfortunately, it consisted of 4 weeks of solid 8-11hr mountaineering days, but it proved to me that if you burn off what you eat you WILL lose weight.

The problem is that even watching your diet and spending an hour a day in the gym, you still aren't active enough. Since coming back from my expedition trip, I went back up to a 32" waist on my cr@ppy diet. I still train every day, but it's obvious I'm not burning as many calories for my food intake.
