I think it is the wheels and the angle but it looks like the rear wheels run slower than the front when watching the spokes.

Sounds very fit and healthy David. Well done. All the hard graft you've put in over the time you've had the car has finally come to fruition.

I think it was on the clip that Steven was underneath the car. Is that the exhaust that is blowing i hear?

David,

How does your power relate to what Andy was running at TOTB last year?

Regards,
Shaun.

David

Just giving the Ford boys something to get excited about on another forum! Can you state (ball park) how much it would cost to get to this power level.... based on the bits you are using?

Regards,
Shaun.

I have a little more power than Andy had iirc.. but he was running a dog box and better tyres. (I got 11.6 last year)

cost?

Erm..

I've spent circa 30k on the car at a guess... lots of wasted money though.. ie HKS air filter, HKS hiper zorst - Sold cheap then got another one FMIC, wheels, brakes, paint jobs, alarms, trackers, clutches, gearboxes, quickshifts

I wouldnt like to add it up but id suggest about 15 - 20k for what I did.. but prices have come down now.. my headers were custom made and cost 500 + vat.

Turbo(s), wastegate(s), injectors, fuel pressure reg, pumps, transmission, clutch, headers, downpipe etc... Soon adds up..

The main thing is labour, fortunatley I did everything but build my engine and that was done by SMG & DTW 'Competition Engines'

Checked the dyno logs today from that run and it made 417 BHP at the wheels. Now just need to finish off the mapping and get the boost control set up on the road... might need some traction control though

Cheers,

Pat.

Good job its got traction control on the ecu.. but I still need to work out how to do a 5th wheel input, as I think we may be spinning all four.. even with the road legal slicks

He will never know Shaun, and neither will I !! I tune my car to the edge for 1/4 mile work I tame it down a bit for labouring it on a set of brake rollers.

At Dastek rollers it made 501 bhp at the wheels, 556 flywheel, that was with a 50 shot of nitrous.

With a bit more tweeking, Davids should be capable of similar numbers without the gas

Andy,

I think that Dastek have got seriously screwed transmission loss calculations, or are you seriously suggesting you only lost 55 BHP in the transmission on that run?

Cheers,

Pat.

Yes Pat

Thats typical of the DasTeK rollers, they have a closer roller pitch and hence lower tyre distortion. The knurled rollers also negate the need for tie downs.
I posted the results on here way back Aug/Sept when I ran the car there.

You must get a look at them in action next time you are up here, Gerry has some good deals on them just now too

David- are you planning to add gas as per your posts of intention from a while back?
Or are you sticking with just running high boost?

What kind of limit will you be using boost wise? 2bar? 2.5? or does it depend on the results whilst mapping?

Yes John, that would minimise the losses although on the overrun, unloaded, it is questionable how much the box adds to the equation ?

I would expect the straight cut gearset to give more linear losses under power/overrun than a helical gearset so the figues should be more representative with the straightcut box on a RR IMHO.

the actual gear losses are a very small part of the overall losses, which is why coastdown testing on rollers can work with relative accuracy.

562.4bhp today @ 28psi on Optimax - NO Octane Boosters or Methanol as yet, would have but ran out of time.
