460bhp ATW, 23psi, on optimax only
Need to say this.
Took David Wallis' car down to scooby clinic today for a private tuning session (safer than on the road) after several runs the power crept from apporx 300 bhp ATW (15psi) to 460bhp ATW (521 flywheel) at 23psi Car was filled up this morning, whilst on back of trailer, with 55litres of optimax, and then whacked on the rollers down at scoobyclinic. Things were just starting to get interesting when the exhaust started getting noisy, and the afr started going crackers. On inspection, the custom up pipe had been rubbing on the sub frame, and had worn through, causing the exhaust to blow big time, and all further runs being abandoned. Would of been nice to see what it did at 26psi, and 28psi, and then what it would have done with fancy fuel. Not bad all in IMO at 23psi, and on optimax only. Big up to Scoobclinic for use of their facilities. Big up to Pat for his dedication. Big up to David, for finally getting somewhere with your car, good to see you smiling about your car, well done. Excellent Smithers :D:D:D
Really pleased for David :) |

Excellent result David :notworthy Well done to you & all the others involved :D Hopefully your enthusiasm will now be revived
|
nice results
looking forward to the result on full boost :thumb: |
nice one David...
460ATW? :thumb: :notworthy |
Excellent results David it’s nice to see some figures at last ;) after the gigantic build thread over the last two years well done mate :thumb:
|
Gulp.
Must have sounded fantastic, what a result! Graham. |
gotta say it was damm loud:D
|
Cheers all
521.7bhp @ flywheel. I suspect we may get close to 600 :D |
Very nice David :) Even nicer on Optimax :D
|
wait till I start with the scottimax :D
|
That's fantastic news, very pleased for you (and Steven).
Now - don't go changing anything (except the uppipe) get it reliable and USE IT! Andrew... |
Dont worry Andrew, he isnt allowed to do anything, untill he has used it for a while (unless something absolutely needs doing)
|
|
Nice one David :) Looks like at 5k you better have a tight grip of the steering wheel !!
Andy wait till I start with the scottimax |

Best I get my ass in gear then ;) Andy |
David,
Cool results! As a matter of interest (and I know only too well the issue with driveability and big HP) what is it like on the road and driveability wise. Looks very peaky and takes time to come on full boost by your graph? I am looking at going down the big BHP route so am interested in the driveability side. Regards, Shaun. |
I think they trailered it to the rolling road.

Regards, Shaun. Generally quick run up times are good for peak power but do not show true midrange torque, conversely slow run up times show good torque early in the rpm range but can suffer heat soak at the top end limiting the indicated power peak. Not sure what the ramp rate is on the DD Dyno ? Perhaps Pat can enlighten us ? Andy |
well done David!!
videos!!! ;) |
It was trailered there as its not taxed or insured for the road, yet.
Please remember, this is just an in progress graph, which had to be aborted due to the sub frame rubbing a hole in the headers. |
wow impressive! what is the full spec....?
cheers |
andy.. ramp rate was 60 or 62 :D
Fook knows what it meant... I had to get to 2000 rpm in 4th, switch the load switch on, floor it then hit the ramp switch :D Shaun, on the road its very good, depends what you want.. (im not interested in in-gear performance as thats not how 'I' drive.. down a gear works well for me :))its not as linear as it looks on the graph. due to the capacity its not bad off boost, however it is 7.5:1 CR with around 280deg cams. |
