But we'd like David's times at Elvington today ... did he worry the Top Secret car ??

Better that the last 11.6's before car was finished?

See ya at the SSO David!

Car still isnt finished, he cracked the manifold again yesterday.

Managed 11.33 at 123mph and 11.44 at 125mph

Nothing i have seen would worry the top secret skyline.

David was 4th overall.

Inlet manifold, cracked just at the bolt flange. Minor repair, will be done prior to more testing soon.

I have a feeling it happened on my 1st run, as when i returned to pits, the idle was hunting a little, and settling higher than before. When david did his last run, his 11.44, the idle had risen to 2000rpm (from circa 1200rpm).

Brilliant day all in all, even Trout had fun

I will be taking the manifold off on wednesday night at the latest, so david can repair it on thursday, and all being well, he will be running on Sunday at Melbourne.

I believe david and pat are going to add the 3 degrees of timing back in, which was present for the 562bhp run, but removed for caution.

Traction is still an issue, especially the way david drives it (fooking brutal), he made the wheels chirp when he changed from 3rd to 4th

The 1st time i ever drove davids car, other than reversing it onto a car ramp, was yesterday, and the smile on my face summed it up. Bl00dy awesome, god knows what it feels like to do a mid to late 10s pass, but doing the 11.33 was just unbelievable, and cant thank david enough for letting me have a blast in the car.

It certainly cured my hangover

Roll on Sunday, and then roll on fancy fuel.

Steven

Probably be the last time you get a shot since your going quicker than him in his own car .

On a serious note though well done. Everything seems to be going in the right direction.

nah, me driving it was to determine wether it was david who couldnt change into 4th or the car. my 1st run, the car wouldnt go into fourth, so trundled over line doing a 12.8. Fix the gearstick, and then ran an 11.33.

We, then had to get david to calm down a little, and not worry about whats going on in the other lane, just concentrate on the christmas tree. As soon as he did that, he did the 11.44.

this is the second time the inlet has cracked if i am remembering correctly. That can happen because the deck heights on the manifold/head arnt correct so they are under tension and crack with heat expansion, so check the manifold is true and the spacers are identical.

just taken manifold off, and it looks like the manifold itself isnt truly flat, so allowing the spacer (20mm) to warp slightly, combined with almost 2 bar of boost, it stresses the rear most part covering no 4, and thus causes it to crack.

david is sorting it between now and sunday, so he can run on monday at melbourne.

steven

ps i got my engine back today
